@Ossarian I'm not the biggest fan but he arguably is. He's at least the biggest rock star in the world and the face of mainstream rock music
@davidburke21324 жыл бұрын
ggthewhale I’d personally think that if you’re that “mainstream” it probably precludes you from being the “most important”. Importance is usually reserved for people who do something new and different and move their art form forward, not for people who just do what’s been done before very well. That’s “popular” or “successful” not “important”. Don’t get me wrong, I have huge respect for Dave Grohl and I’d consider myself a fan, but he’s far from the most important musician of the past decade let alone 25 years. He’s not even close to being in the frame for that one.
@ggthewhale4 жыл бұрын
@@davidburke2132 he's not important just because everyone has heard his music. It's because he's at the forefront of collaborations with a huge variety musicians, he's an outspoken commentator on rock history, he's been in so many movies and is referenced so many times in meme culture, he has a very likeable personality, the list goes on. There's a reason why everyone knows about him. But again his importance doesn't JUST stem from his music (which isn't phenomenal in any way, but is still popular)

I know there are plenty of other popular big names out there but they don’t seem to reach as many ears as they deserve like the Foo Fighters do. Just my opinion but sadly I feel country music stole most of the female fans when Rock stopped being THE party genre and started moving towards trying too hard to look badass. (I personally still like it) but that pushed more girls away from it...Everyone follows the girls....Rock loses traction. Not quite that black and white but you can probably agree that it’s a piece of the puzzle. Make Rock an energetic party again! Appeal to both sexes...especially girls.
