Food Bank/ Pantry Haul: 11/15/23

Welcome!
We are a homesteading, homeschooling family of 7. Due to recent events (job loss/career change, health issues, rising food costs, etc.) we are having a hard time making ends meet despite our best efforts at frugality. So we are tapping into our local food banks to help us feed our family. Come along as I show you what we are blessed with, what we add to it via grocery store and garden, and how I use it all to nourish our bodies.

Our local food bank has given us the Bob Evans mashed potatoes and I have frozen them with no issues. Just thaw them in the fridge overnight and heat them up .

I was happy to read this because i have received one of those and froze it. I haven't used it up yet for fear it's going to be gross. Knowing it will be just fine is awesome! Thank you!

@@itisgoingtobeOKAY Your welcome Hun. I didn't find a difference in texture but if you do you can turn them into potato cakes or potato soup . A lot of times the things we receive are already frozen to preserve them because of the best but date being out .

You can freeze any bob Evans foods I do it all the time to bulk add 4 servings of instant potatoes and some milk and butter I love you and your family so much 💕 May God and Jesus bless you and your family 🙏❣️

Check your income eligibility for the snap program in your state. They were raised because of the pandemic. Every little bit helps.😊

There is so much nice food being donated right now because people are not buying as much. I love seeing it rescued from being wasted. I'm currently having some weird but delicious keto snacks a sweet lady at the food share I went to loaded me up with. Snacky things are one of the first things I cut back on when money was super tight so yay for snacks (that I don't have to make myself)!

Gas here for E85 is just over $2 a gallon, grocery prices have dropped considerably here for most items, beef is still too expensive to purchase very much. I count on hamburger from the food bank and our grocery stores, one in particular, always has really good deals and coupons. The economy has gotten way better in the last year and continues to get better. 😊

The white chocolates have an almond in the middle. Very yummy and hide from kids until dec for advent calendars. Amazing haul too.

It’s not a good idea to freeze anything potatoes. They will be soggy mess.
