My little dupe is obsessed with this series, ever since he got ONI for his 8th birthday. He is learning a lot! Thanks for another great episode. 🎉

Fun little tip for a glowstick buddy, pair them with a dupe that's Nyctophobic (require light to sleep) and they can sleep together. You won't need some other source of light, like a lamp, with this combination if the sleep next to each other and at the same time. Not perfect but an OK solution.

8:30 I've also found that dupes will actively avoid eating food that's closer to expiration time, which as a person, I can understand, but as a ten ton printing pod, it makes me very sad that they're being so wasteful.

Very good info for people starting to play the game. There's two things I want to throw in for consideration though. The first is tiles. It's such a good run speed bonus and it even improves decor. It does not take a lot of time to build compared to the compounding benefit you get from increased dupe movement speed over time. I really think it's best to just get them built and then bask in the increased efficiency from there on. And then that dupe, Mae, was an excellent pick in my opinion for a role that I always look out for early in my games. Life support, Tidying and Storing. AKA, the Janitor (barred from doing anything else, but doctoring on the off chance it's ever needed). See these, along with the supplying errand, can be very disruptive to base efficiency. Yet can be taken care of by a single dupe no problem. Disruptive, because dupes with say, a high cooking priority, will often disengage from their primary tasks and then, if they are not barred from the mentioned tasks, you can easily see them running across the entire map to do something like supply sandstone for a ladder being built out somewhere in the boonies, or picking up a wayward bit of coal from one side of the map to supply to a coal generator on the other side. I've seen dupes with critical responsibilities experience a second interruption in power to their workstation at the beginning of a cycle, and then waste an entire cycle doing something inane like that. Better to bar most dupes from these errands. You need at best one dupe that will when idle pick up any slack, like when the "Janitor" is ill. Which is usually my researcher, because you inevitably get periods where you're researching nothing. Needless to say it's worth thinking about the supplying errand priority too. Especially once you can start building auto sweepers to automagically supply buildings. The more dupes you have, the crazier it can get. For "The Janitor" The higher the dupe's strength, the better. Far better yet to have that dupe be a decorator which tends to be a crucial, but very intermittent responsibility. And germ resistant AND super productive! (10% chance to complete a long task instantly... cleaning outhouses... Decorating...) A good, good fit for such a role. And in return you get a tidy base with high decor and efficient errands. It's create and forget. The benefit just slowly accrues.

I love specialists. At least in the early and mid game. That 12 to agriculture means I ban everyone else (with no points) from farming, same thing with cooking, researching, and ranching. If I have 3 people who can do each job I can put one of them on each shift. This game is amazing, and your videos are wonderful

Just build two refrigerators next to each other in the CO2 pit, one which is powered and one which is unpowered, and place all the muckroot in the latter. That way you save power AND have a centralized storage for the dupes to retrieve everything edible from.

@MeHaveDonuts 7 ай бұрын
12:45 You can also remove the polluted dirt from the storage for a second by unselecting it then disinfect it with your spray by pressing I. This will destroy about 90% of the germs on the dirt and helps to let the dirt lose all of its germs much faster.

For laboratory my advice is to use area around printing pod, you can fit small and big science station, it will be covered with free light always an it will count towards room bonus.

You're amazing, Echo! I've been playing the game since it's release, and I think I've never liked ONI content as I like yours. And I think it's specially awesome the fact that you're teaching new players the 101 of the game (which by the way I struggled A LOT back in 2018 to learn stuff), even though the game is "sort of old" already. I've discovered you with the Max Diff challenge, and loved every single series I've already watched. And even though I already know ONI 101, this ONI University is an amazing series. Thank you for your work and effort! 💚

In regards to food storage, I prefer having a small nook with a ration box near the mess/great hall, and set it to only contain foods that won't spoil (like muckroot and nutrient bars). They won't care about any oxygen or temperature, and won't take up space in a building requiring power (as the 120w for cooling down 45kg of muckroot is a bit of a waste) Then again, I've got more than 5000 hours in the game, which is a lot of time to develop some habits, while this series is more for those who are new to the game. Keep up RNGesus' good work @Echo, Randy's got nothin' on you ❤🤣

Excellent series! Still new to ONI and I'm learning so much. 2:59 - The best advice I got on digging was to build the ladder scaffolding on a priority higher than the dig command (i use 4 and 5). This way no matter what they will build their "escape tile" first.

I have already learned how many mistakes I've made just by watching these great videos! Not sure if you will touch on them later, but a couple questions: You leave the natural floor in place and only fill in where buried treasure was, or holes. Why is that? Is there a benefit to keeping the natural floor? Thank you!!

9:25 wonder when will they fix it. If You chose all than all of the new discoveries should be also checked, but if You only selected one option, even if it was the only option, it should remain as the only option. It sould be fixed by devs.

PSA: don't just destroy the second ration box, build a new one next to the carbon dioxide pit. It's a perfect transition to two fridges. Since muckroot and ration bars don't go off you won't waste space that would be better used by meal lice. In the long run I always put a ration box at the back of my kitchen

Did I miss the part where you warn people to NOT use compost while they're still at mealwood? Food-poisened polluted dirt becomes poisened dirt, which leads to poisened meallice? Or did they change that?

Wait, rotten food turns into polluted dirt? I didn't knew that, so you could use it to fuel a sublimation station, feed Puffs, get Slime, make Algea ans feed Pacu, completing the cycle of to get better food or food overall Wonder whats the math for that setup lol

i always love your content, it is hard maintain all dupe but you keep it simple like 5 meal lice for 1 dupe. too bad im waiting max achievement series, it's okay since the other achivement would give you a headache like taming moomoo and etc. but since it's you, it will be very tremendous interesting. i hope you will make some tutorial for taming all vent, geyser and volcano. automatic farm and barn design. including too maintaining surplus oksigen. i hope you good, thanks for the content

why does everyone use 2 doors to close a room?
@Kr0noZ
@Kr0noZ Жыл бұрын
These doors allow gas exchange while walls do not, and also 1 cheap door covers 2 tiles of height whereas 2 tiles of wall take more total resources. You can fix the gas flow with airflow tiles but 1) they are research locked and 2) very expensive by comparison. I like proper walls better though because unlike doors they can be insulated or special materials (lead metal tiles for rad shielding or copper metal tiles to help a heating setup or fancy carpet for decor etc.). That said, these are mid - late game and you want to save on stuff early on.
