To be fair theirs a I universe logic. The barrier is basically a healing field which is why you can take so much abouse inside bs real life while outside the very air is toxic. You can survive outside the field but it’s litterally killing you every second while the smaller the field gets the stringers it’s healing which is why it shrunk its can’t keep full size I definitely.

There's a similar healing system in 3D-shooters like Doon. Instead of food you only have to collect enough first aid kits. Apply as many as you need to patch yourself up from almost dead to fresh and fighting fit again. Perhaps a good idea to show in your next video, how gauze bandages can restore a soldier's health at the expense of him gettng to look more and more like a mummy. 🙂
