I have noticed over the last 5 years or more that most supermarkets are selling grade c fruit and veg at grade A prices.I reported this to trading standards in uk and they have done nothing, it is a robbery.

It never ceases to amaze me how people don't have supplies and are so willfully ignorant of the world situation: I have these people in my own family. Once THIS gets straightened out, they'll say, "See? It's alright". Sheesh! Keep informing, people, Ana. Many people need a push and it might work on some.

@@rost6583 Even the government have said it, although in America, it isn't widely publicized. The Federal Emergency Agency (FEMA) and the American Red Cross have changed their emergency suggestions to two weeks, up from three days. Unfortunately, most people are stuck on those three days and keep quoting it, and often, they don't even have that.

Prepping extra supplies into your own pantry helps with these hiccups in the supply chain. The larger your own stock, the longer you can go without being impacted by these things. Avoiding crowds of people going crazy in the super markets is another great benefit.

We watched the documentary "the Great Snow of 1947" last night. The winter has started early and cold across USA and Europe, and I'm expecting some really cold weather here in the UK this winter. My OH (never a keen prepper) realised 3 weeks without power was possible as happened here 20 years ago. In the Homebase sale he picked up a new outdoor BBQ 50% off and some sacks of briquettes in Lidl. Good to know we can cook dinner whatever happens, and they can sit in the shed until next summer if not needed.

Good idea re BBQ. I remember the Winter of 1947 in South Devon. Being carried on my father’s shoulders with my mother walking behind, through a channel cut down the middle of the road, with the snow piled up either side high above me. They were taking me to a neighbour where they thought it may be safer. I am fearful we may get a similar Winter this year, particularly with all the geo-engineering which is taking place at present.

@rost6583 we have had harsh winters every 20 years or so, and our geographical position means we have a great deal of variation. If nothing else, I really don't want to have to trudge out to a shop in a blizzard if I don't have to!

Thanks for the info Ana. A little off subject, but are you aware of a feed additive called 'Bovaer'? It's added to the feed of cattle and it suppresses the enzyme in a cows intestines that produces Methane. Arla is working in partnership with some of the UKs largest supermarkets in a trial to reduce Methane gas from cattle. It seems that Bill Gates has invested millions in a company called 'Rumin 8' to produce a similar product. I'm not sure how many people are aware of this, personally I'm only going to buy organic dairy products from now on. Oh and if anyone is interested, Methane gas is only 0.000179% of air, seems to me that it's hardly a problem.

Harvested 2kg of winter carrots yesterday before the soil gets frozen solid. Brussels sprouts will be ready to pick around christmas, some beetroots also to pick. Swedes are many and ready anytime needed. They get sweeter after being frosted. Cabbages are not doing so well, planted a month late, they are small and also ready to pick. Onion sets have been planted , about 200. another 100 to plant in early spring. Garlic planted in October is now about 3 to 4 inches high, it is hard neck garlic. Very hardy. Get your gardens planned and readied for next year.

I think it might also be a cyber attack because of the timing. It is right before Thanksgiving in the USA where Arizona actually is. The article I found stated that the cyber attack prevented Starbucks from paying their baristas in the usual manner and on time...right before Christmas holiday shopping. This will put a crimp in paying rent, paying for bills, paying for food and transportation. Can you imagine all the crabby shoppers on black friday who can't get their Starbucks? Can you imagine them all overloading the Caribou Coffee Shops instead? Dangerous times ahead...

Even organic I feel is not safe as when I check on the Yeo valley site they have teamed up with arla, so I will not be buying any products from Yeo valley. It’s all well & good supporting British farmers but I will not support British farmers when or if they are willing to use us as their Guinea pigs to make a fast buck from us for under the guise of benefiting the environment.

Listen carefully to what I was saying in the video!! SELECTED SUPERMARKETS! NOT ALL. It seems to be very hard for few people to understand that phrase, here it is again SELECTED SUPERMARKETS !

Time to stop relying on foreign foods . Let’s get back to eating seasonal vegetables. We can live without bananas, kiwi fruit, avocados etc. we can live without lettuce, cucumbers and fresh tomatoes in winter. In fact we don’t need 90% of the crap that is sold in supermarkets

If people would just source their LOCAL organic farmers they would NOT need to panic and get worried. Better quality of food that fills you up as contains real amount of fibre and goodness. It doesn't even work out much dearer at all as local organic farmers try their best not to be dearer than the shops. Also you know the food has not been injected and messed with like the majority of supermarket food. Also when the looroll rubbish was happening I found that local little independant convenience stores never run out of anything. People were too busy fighting at big shops to be bothered to shop small, independant and local. It is not hard to source, it is not inconvenient to use cash only when you get used to it and it is not hard to eat in season either. It is a much more pleasant shopping experience than the super bright light cattle market tyranical type big six every one insists on using. Be real people, it makes you smile😊
