There’s something comforting about MatPat being like “hey, I’m obviously gonna keep eating food after this.” We tend to think of endings as these painful, permanent cutoff, but MatPat’s just going to go do something else now. He’ll still be there, enjoying life, even if we don’t get to see him on the screen every week, and I think that’s pretty cool.

god matpat you're gonna make me cry, i was/am a picky eater too, i've also been through what i think was an eating disorder, i have fear foods from both. eating is hard for me, i often just choose easy unhealthy stuff because it tastes good, its not complicated and i know i like it. this channel is really inspiring me to eat more things, after years of my parents trying and it never working, almost crying because i don't like anything i try, and other bad experiences with food, this video alone (and the last one which really made me think about my heritage and food culture in my family and country) motivated me to eat more things and try more without being scared, you really have made an impact on so many people's lives theres no way to thank you

I put off watching this just because i couldn't accept this was your last episode.. Film theory was my favorite of your channels up until Food Theory came out. So many memories over the past 4 years filled with Food Theory on the TV. Getting my 1st house, married, 1st child. I swear the title of "bittersweet" could not be more accurate. Me and my sister, we were looking at this and going "wow, what a long way this has come! I can't believe this is ending!" And then...... We saw the colors on the cake and the thumbnail. And we were just like, "oh my freaking gosh it is the channel colors. We need to watch this. We need to cry." Honestly, Food Theory had never been my favorite to begin with, but I realized more and more as time went on just how valuable those moments in the kitchen, learning about food and especially spending time with loved ones there was so impactful, not only for the audience, but also for you guys. And I will seriously miss the shenanigans that Matt and Steph got up to, but I am so excited to see what Santi brings to the table (pun originally unintended, and now totally intended). Dear Matpat, I have been following for years now i hope i can still watch you and ollie and steph. This brought me to tears. For many others understandably, they were introduced to matpat through game theory or even film theory. However, I was a little late to the game and I actually started out with food theory. My favorite episodes were the ones about cereal mascots and I would check every day to see a food theory episode. I got really emotional during Matt's goodbye. I'm so glad he's proud of himself and all the growth he's had here; I know what it's like to feel like you're not confident in an area of life, and to completely turn that around takes a ton of courage. To start this channel feeling like he wasn't versed in food was already so brave, but then to do everything he did here is amazing. We're proud of you, too, Matt. This is the ending that really got me. Food theory was the channel that got me into the theorist lifestyle, I remember being so excited about the announcement and binging all three kickoff episodes. Food is really important to my family and it’s one of the things I find the most joy in. This was the channel that I could just open and enjoy without prior consumption of media or knowledge of backstory and lore. I understood, and I learned a lot of things that I could actually use. I’ll miss Matt so much, but I can’t wait to see Santi take off with this channel. (I’m not crying, you’re crying 😭)
