Historically speaking, Tudor era English food is truly awesome. The French cooking techniques with wild herbs that probably tastes more potent because wild herbs are way stronger to survive the wild and aged meats, cheese or whatever simply because no refrigeration, the flavors are probably so strong and good that a modern chef would probably be consider it too strong even for their palates. It’s only the Victorian to Post-War era food that solidified and taken the place as “British food”. Nutty history on that one. As an Asian, I had a traditional dish by my Grandpa called Hainan dish; a flower crab cooked in vegetables and lap cheong and it was amazing. It’s very sad that I don’t see such traditional old era dishes more. But that’s just me.

They mean corned beef in a can right? We have spam and corned beef in a can. But when people talk about corned beef, its always been silverside/roast. Typically you serve it with potatoes (in some form) with white sauce, beetroot and greens.
