The thing that distinguishes US Navy SEALS is NOT their physical condition. Many that drop out of SEAL Training are in as good or better shape. And SEALs are in great physical shape. The thing that sets them apart and what the trainers look for is the will to see the job done no matter the cost to themselves. The difference is all upstairs. That is what sets them apart from the rest.

I listened to an interview with a navy SEAL where he said everyone who he talked to in his platoon who passed reached a sort of transcendent state, where they were asleep, but still running, still holding the boats over their heads etc. The training is made to break you physically, and it will, the only thing that matters is your mental strength to carry on.

So, I wonder why the Army doesn't have a specific one, and our final culmination was rough but soooo fun. But hey, I love war games. My Drill SGT was a prior Marine, so I just assumed he made the whole thing a hell week, lol. He woke us up in the field firing a .50 and yelling "wakey wakey, eggs and bakey!" Before laughing maniacally and tearing through our tents. Gave me the warm fuzziness, even though no one else seemed to like it. However, a lot of people don't discuss injuries and deaths in any service's training. Happens a lot more than I figured. I guess I just like pain! =D

Brandon R Campbellenious is making a good point. A simple stomach growl is loud enough to giveaway your position. Bet stomachs used to getting no response to their growls just stop even trying. All that brawn requires more calories and water as well. Hunger denied gets painful. Not experienced it myself but have heard about it. A body used to getting by on less has adapted. The other thing you are not aware of is that the women are soldiers for 7 years as well. Training so hard and nutrition so bad that they usually stop having menses. The more elite serve in higher positions for 7 and 5 years respectively. So, our guys will have to see all women as professional soldiers as well. Even if they don’t have a gun. Don’t saber rattle. Why did we lose in Vietnam despite more and better weapons? Johnson and the brass underestimated the will and tenacity of the opponents. Kind of like the British did with the colonists that were determined to be free. If you go back into our history and look at the losses, not just the wins, you will get a better idea of reality. No matter how well trained and supplied you can lose because of decisions of the leaders. I hate war, but you don’t half ass it when you decide to send in the troops. Which is what we have mostly been doing. That would be the fault of past Presidents AND Congresses.

The selection is the physical and mental hard part of these things, the "training" parts are things like what they need to know to act as the Medical specialist, signal specialist, etc. as well as all the other things each individual gets training on, but the selection is the part where they try to break them to see where their weaknesses lie then they build proficiency.

I have read some historical books and it was a tactic to starve their forces to make them harsher when invading enemies. The lords wanted to take over the areas so their forces were not paid properly & starved and kept away from the comforts of uh ladies. so when it came time invade they would be extra harsh kill resisting citizens take their food and um assault the woman. they basically took whatever they wanted.The soldiers knew the lord wouldn’t punish them so they basically destroyed whoever they came across. the lord / their boss would rebuild and the scared citizens would just fallow him for fear of being made a slave. While a lot of the those things aren’t allowed anymore the tactics of not providing proper food or payment seems to still be happening. It’s not a very smart tactic for today’s warfare.

We would have to run in and out of the wave break, then back onto the beach, and the instructor would say "drop and make it rain", and we had to lay down and throw sand on each other. Then we would make snow angels in the sand, like jumping jack status. The sand would get into everywhere you didn't want it. My thighs used to rub together from running since I was so fit and it rashed them til they bled. Good times!

It's very cool that you had a video about SEAL training. For the record, the distinction between SEALs and Marines is important. I worked hard to become a Marine, and I want to be called a Marine (not a SEAL). Also, I have a lot of respect for SEALs. SEALs are special forces in the Navy. Their training is different, more extensive, and sometimes more difficult than Marine training. But Marines are just as tough in a fight.

They’re in the same league. But not the Corps at large. Not even close. (Army Airborne/Ranger here, and I’ve worked/trained with all of ‘em.). @@543soldier It's a mandated minimum in the US military that you get 4 hours a sleep (obviously unless operations prohibit it due to enemy action). However, that number does not count fireguard, so I don't know if someone had to do fireguard, but they probably did since it's a TRADOC thing (although I think TRADOC is Army), meaning about 3 hours a night of sleep.

@TheGhostrider9667
@TheGhostrider9667 4 жыл бұрын
@Ryan A's Here’s the deal: When you’re “Admin”, sleeping in barracks, like Hell Week, you pretty much get the four hours a night. Which is minimal when you’re working that hard. But when you’re tactical, you get what you get, and you like it. In Ranger School, we might not sleep for three days on an operation. Over the course, you average about four hours a night, but it’s not predictable. Sleep deprivation is a huge part of this type of training, along with food deprivation. When I went through, we got one MRE a day. That’s maybe 1/3 of the calories you’re burning. I run about 180# normally. I lost 40# in RangerSchool. Everyone looks like skeleton. In later years, they realized that we were literally autodigesting, and so now, Ranger students get TWO MREs a day. Pansies. (just kidding). But they do get two a day now. I don’t know if SEAL training includes starvation, somebody can jump in who knows. But the training is made exponentially harder by depriving students of two of their most basic survival needs: food and sleep. Hallucinations are ever-present for yourself, and your buddies. I’ve seen guys risk their entire careers, their Ranger tab, everything for an extra bite or two of food. When you’re hungry enough, you will eat just about anything. Leaves, garbage, insects, raw snakes - you name it. That kind of ‘basic needs’ stress in training simulates the ‘imminent death’ stress of combat. And it is very effective.
@Evan_Case
@Evan_Case 4 жыл бұрын
@Xelbayria You're completely incorrect. I have no idea where you got that information but it's bogus. Hallucinations start specofically and strictly because of a lack of sleep in cases of sleep deprivation. No external illness required.

Navy SEALs are not “Army.” They’re NAVY. American military branches are distinct, but sometimes have “joint operations” and even bases (as a budgetary cost savings). Distinct services are Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. We’re now forming a “Space Force,” as well, but it’s currently a command sub-branch of the USAF... much like the Army Air Corps was before the Air Force became a separate entity... FYI I served 25-yrs on active duty and would do it all again - only better! There was a time when our forces had difficulty in exercising joint operations, but that was an issue with Command-level coordination. We’ve since resolved a “unity of Command” issue and one of empowering ground ops at a lower level to improve execution of battle plans. Bottom line: our military continues to grow, advance, and improve. We have to fight against the impulses to create a PC correct fighting force... something that currently creates problems and degrades effectiveness.

The koreans are not too be taken lightly. 175,000 Marines would die in North Korea if sent in alone. They just would..

Y'all dum as hell that was when north korea was doing good and could feed there people but now most of there country are malnourished and are really really skinny and there tech is the same and is not in battle fighting conditions or broken (not like it was new when they bought it from the ussr and china) don't matter how much soldiers you have you can't win a war with starving malnourished skeleton soldiers we would destroy them rn

They defected to South Korea. They are obviously no longer in North Korea.

This channel is opperated in South Korea... Where North Korea has no say in the matter... Also probably doubt North Korea even knows these videos exist, since these guys have said that they didn't even know anything about America or South Korea until they defected, which makes me believe they have no internet over there.
