@Peter Goezinya no dude, we have those for dinner. A good roast can feed me, my 2 sisters, my mom, my dad, and even have some left over. A box or 2 of macoroni goes well with lemon chicken, and trust me, i know what i'm talking about. I live in alabama, which is part of the " southern states". People say that we're all racist and homophobic, but it's not true! You'll only find a couple of towns at the state line that have racist business owners, so people think thats how we all are. However, despite all this, i can say without a shadow of a doubt that we can cook some good stuff down here. I mean, have you tried gumbo?

You are a beautiful soul. I believe as more people discover your story, you will find an army of support behind you for the mission you are now on. I enjoy watching your experiences with American culture. Of course I am a bit prejudice as a proud American myself, but my pride is in how caring, open and supportive we as a nation are. I hope to learn when you come to America next for any speaking engagements, so that I can see you in person.

That’s because Asian people actually take care of their skin. Same thing with black people. White people really tend to skimp out on that, which is why phrases like ‘blacks don’t crack’ exist

@@KevinJames0800 Half my family is black, I think I know. Black people get visibly ashy skin, white people don't, so it makes since for black people to not want to get that, so they pamper their skin better. On top of that, their skin is darker, making them better against the sun. Making them less likely to get skin cancer, or look like a prune by the end of their life

@@podomuss Racial genetic differences are very real, and they Do lead to cultural differences. Period, Full Stop. Why people can't/won't accept these differences is beyond me. They do Not mean this is superior to that. It just means people are different. Same with gender. Men are Not women. Women are not men. PC Speak is really abhorrent to me. A different kind of cultural/political/social racism....These difference do not in any fashion mean there should be adverse conditions placed on anybody because of what they are. In the USA, barbecue is almost a religion. There isn't just one kind. Every region has a specialty. Beef, pork and chicken are the most popular meats used, but you might find others. If you travel around the country, try the barbecue in each city you visit, and it will likely be a different experience each time. Just make sure to research the locally recommended restaurants.

I would love to see a North Korean react to food eating contests. I imagine that this concept would be mind blowing for most North Koreans. The true American classic is the 4th of July hotdog eating contest. Also, I am really happy to get the chance to experience the feelings of these brave people as they get to finally experience what life should be like for all people. The chance to be free and make ones own choices. It makes me feel proud to have been an NCO in both the Army and Navy of the USA. Although we are not perfect, some in my country want and feel that socialism and or communism is the best option. A free society allows for one to think on their own, however that is why the messages of these North Koreans are so vital for everyone to hear.

Heck! You don't have to go to Texas around rodeo time. Just come to Texas. Have a lot of family gatherings where we just have BBQ - steaks, briskets, fajitas, sweetbreads, all kinds of pork including ribs, chicken from wings to sitting on beer cans. Come to my house anytime she is in South Texas and we'll get her not only Texas BBQ done right but Mexican BBQ like cabrito and antojitos!

Haha, your description of the content of pork in pork soup cracked me up. I totally get your meaning. In Poland we would say it "didn't even lie next to a pig" xD I love to see Northern Korean defectors explore and wonder about things for the first time, it's such a wholesome content and it makes me so happy deep inside. They have so much appreciation and excitement for things that the people elsewhere take for granted. You guys give us a great lesson on respecting and valuing the everyday things in our life. I wish I could ever assist a refugee from a country as troubled as N. Korea to explore and experience new things that they were banned from doing in their country of origin: to see this joy and amazement they experience, it must be a beautiful and one of a kind experience and the greatest honour. I am not a religious person but I hope and wish with all my strength that one day soon your nation will be free and they will no longer have to suffer under the heel of a heartless dictator. Also, I admire and respect your personality, charisma and strength you beam, Madame, you are a beautiful person and one of my most favorite people ever. Do not ever change.

Fatima Perez we do? I’ve never in my life seen anyone, myself included, eat an entire chicken. I didn’t see it happen in Culinary School, I didn’t see it happen in any restaurant I ever worked in and even as a 6” ( 183cm) woman I would vomit if I tried to eat an entire chicken, as would my 6’4” (192cm) husband. A single chicken is enough to feed both of us and our two kiddos. Perhaps your idea of “ all the time “ is skewed?

I think theyre only jailed if it dies on their watch, is over worked to death, or they dont report a sudden illness that leads to its death. If they notice something early enough to alert the proper authorities they bring in a veterinarian to verify, and if its past its working life they'll harvest it. Or so thats what ive read on a few other threads at least

In Sweden, most people eat hamburgers with cutlery... let's say you go to one of the local burger chains in Sweden, like Frasses, Max, Sibylla, etc. and order a meal. Chances are that, if you decide to dine in, the staff will place plastic cutlery on your tray together with your order - or, if you decide you want take-out, they will 99.95% of the time put plastic cutlery in your take-out bag. If you're feasting one a huge burger, it does make it easier to eat, I'll admit, lol.

@@ironwolfF1 They definitely are. They're obsessed with blood types and star signs, at least in Oriental countries. In America, if you start talking about that unironically, you'd be seen as a total hippie weirdo LOL. And then there's the reincarnation thing. Even if the younger generations don't believe in reincarnation, they do talk about "past" and "next" lives a lot in daily conversation, so it's funny how that still bleeds into every new generation, regardless of what their beliefs are regarding the afterlife. There are other superstitions, but those are the most prominent ones I've noticed. In countries like Japan and China, there are superstitions about homophones, funny enough. If a harmless word sounds similar to another word with a derogatory connotation, then suddenly the innocent word becomes taboo in certain scenarios. I think many countries with several thousands of years of history can carry with them a lot of old superstitions and traditions.
