I walked into the kitchen and found my boyfriend “mashing” potato’s one by one with a fork. Explained to him no no you do it in a pot with some butter and milk. Next day I came home from work to him yelling at me that he tried the butter and milk but it’s just not mashing….. he was trying to mash raw potato’s. We are no longer together.
@floraflowers
@floraflowers 3 жыл бұрын
@@Sneakysausge I also knew people who thought mashed potatoes were made by smashing boiled potatoes and adding salt, MAYBE some water. They were surprised to find out that you're supposed to add milk to the potatoes and that I also predominantly add sour cream for a little kick and a more creamy composition. Honestly, I blame instant mashed potatoes for this. I use them when I am too lazy and too impatient to wait for potatoes to boil but I always did them my way by adding milk and sour cream. One day I read the instructions and I saw they said to only add salt and hot water. That must taste very blad and I'm sorry for anyone who has eaten mashed potatoes like that.

I'm being serious. So I shouldn't be washing raw meat in water? What about dirt and bone dust from meat slicers? You wash vegetables in water but not meat?
@bakedbread9443
@bakedbread9443 Жыл бұрын
@@soyothedanny don't wash raw meat. you're getting the meat hot enough to kill any bacteria living in the meat, you're definitely getting it hot enough to kill anything on the outside of the meat. if your meat is so nasty you can see filth on it, or its slimy or whatever, that meat wouldn't be safe to eat even if you washed and cooked it. rinsing off fruit or veg is fine because the surface isn't covered in bacteria that will get spread around by the water the usda is so annoyed by people washing meat they have many articles written to explain why its a bad idea, www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation/food-safety-basics/washing-food-does-it-promote-food
@Pomagranite167
@Pomagranite167 11 ай бұрын
There really shouldnt be dirt on your meat, it doesn't grow in the ground and butchers don't work outside 😂 also bone dust? Again, bones arent being grinded up and then meat bits are cut from it. Good butchers cut off the meat off first. And then the bones are scrap at the end 😂 where are your brains? Meat is also not sprayed with pesticides like plants are.
@garfoonga1
@garfoonga1 8 ай бұрын
@@soyothedanny if youre buying from a grocery store or any place that sells factory meat, you should wash it. If youre buying fresh from a butcher, you should still wash your meat. I dont know wtf the criticism the lady was getting at, its basic food safety.
@nathanfish9137
@nathanfish9137 8 ай бұрын
@@garfoonga1no, actually it's not basic food safety. A basic internet search will tell you this is a totally unnecessary step and can lead to foodborne illness through cross-contamination. You should handle raw meat as little as possible and cook to the correct temperature for the type of meat. You all DO realize we cook meat to kill germs, right? And butcher shops are not cutting meat and tossing it on the floor to get dirty either.

I only saw part of season one a long time ago, but I remember in the beginning the judges told the contestants that creators of the best dishes would advance, while they were secretly looking for the worst dishes. This was after the preliminary judgements where they proved they were bad. Basically they all thought the contest was on while the judges were still thinning the herd. They did it specifically to avoid people pretending to be bad. I remember one woman saying "It was a moment of 'Yay I won! Oh it's because I'm bad...'"

I used to believe that this was fake until I was asked to teach some people at my church how to cook and realized that there are people that are totally clueless in the kitchen. My mom started teaching me how to cook by the time I was 7 years old and cooked full meals at home and for my church by the time I was 12 years old. My mom taught me well. Love the look on Carla's face. 😱😱

I have a coworker that told me about her daughters 1st college dorm roommate. The girl would keep food out to "finish" for days. Pizza, burgers, even Walmart sushi. She'd stuff all of her trash under the bed, and never clean pretty much anything. There was bugs, pests, smells, mold, and everything in between. Worst part, coworkers daughter was going to school for food science 🙃

Story time: One of my roommate bought 2 full chickens, because ''it was such a deal''. I asked her if she knew how to pull it apart. She didn't. She proceeded to cook one in the oven and stocked it on top of the Raw one. Idk if she ate it, Probably did. Fast forward a week & half later. I come home at 12h00pm there's the 2nd chicken cooked on a cooking tray. No one's home. Strange? I go out of my room and walk past the chicken it's 11h00 pm now. Chicken's still there, no one's home. The next day, I walk in the kitchen and she's like ''Oh you want some Club sandwitch?'' Yes, she was eating that dam chicken and stocked the rest of it in a plate whiteout anything to cover it in the fridge for a WEEK She ate it all. She's still alive. I'm Baffled.
