What have the artists said about the song? In an interview with Rolling Stone about the song, Grohl had this to say: I wrote the song towards the end of the album process. We thought we had finished the album and we had a two-week break. I thought to myself, “I got one more song in me, I got one more song in me.” I was laying down in the grass, looking up at the night sky in Hawaii, and I was reminded of this Neil DeGrasse Tyson video that I had watched called, “The Most Astounding Fact”. And I’ve always been a sky-watcher since I was a kid. I’ve always just stared at the sky and waited for a sign. And so I wrote the song “The Sky is a Neighborhood” based on that. It basically talks about the atoms that comprise life on Earth and make up the human body are traceable to the beginnings of our universe. Stars that go unstable and collapse and explode and just scatter their guts, their fundamental ingredients of life are all over the universe and forming solar systems and stars orbiting planets have the ingredients for life itself. And when you look up at the night sky, you realize that you’re not only part of the universe, but the universe is part of us. It really moves me. Moves me too Dave, congrats for another great song and for the great content of the Foo's works of art. Getting more and more great each album.

The band is awesome, and i love the drummer, but see my comment above about the first Foo album. Dave did the whole thing himself: wrote every song, played every instrument, sang the vocals, mixed and produced it, then, finally, when he was ready to tour it, he hired the band. I think they've improved, and grown since then, but Dave is still a major talent. Check his bio- he works with other major bands all the time. I said it above: he's a real rock star.

It was my first time seeing you and the band live, after countless videos of concerts, live streams, and interviews. At 55 years old, I’m your target audience as you mentioned during the show, and you delivered the goods. Your live performance is something that is truly remarkable and the amount of energy and preparation, interactions with the audience, and great play list is something that all fans should try to see.
