Great to see your progress in drawing, another proof that it matters to continue practicing to improve. Not the intensity, not the duration but the consistency of efforts pays off. Also thank you for putting planetary hours information together in one video message. I did know it all, but it's still nice to see it all together. 😊

Ah yes, for sure a topic that's good to grasp early! I would imagine that this is second nature to many practitionners who've been at it for a little while, but as you accurately put, the point here is to have a concise summary in one place :) And thank you so much for your kind words about the drawing! yes, doing a little bit every day seems to be the real key here!

Along with this subject, the subject of the phases of the moon is interesting/potentially perplexing. I don't recall where I read it, but once heard that it's thought the day of Saturn was originally supposed to start on the day of the new moon (and then 7 days per week, for four weeks, brings us to complete a lunar month of 28 days). Our modern calendar doesn't line up with Saturday on the new moon, but seeing as how the planetary hours make sense in terms of the actual daily cycle of sunlight, it would also make sense for the planetary days to actually be based on something concrete, such as the moon phases.

Unfortunetly in Portuguese we do not have the pagan nomenclature for the days of the week :( Thanks to the sixth century bishop Martinho de Dume, of the city of Braga (who considered it blasphemous to import names of pagan deities), we count the days by their numbers in association with the medieval religious notion of "free days" (so boring... pff). Like this: Sunday is "Domingo", which comes from "domini diēs" in latin, "day of the Lord". Monday is "segunda-feira", coming from "feria secunda", literally "second free day" in latin. Tuesday, "terça-feira", "third free day"... and it goes on like this until Saturday, "Sábado", "sabbatum", the shabbat.

An excellent video (as always!), and an excellent sketch! Is that a bust of a particular individual from history or mythology? I didn't recognize who it might have been right off, but I would be interested in knowing who you intended it to be, or if you were drawing from a real-life bust that you might have in your study/library/office, etc. Anyway...very nice!
@FoolishFishBooks

Thank you Phillip! It's actually just a bust from the Charles Bargue drawing method (old-school 19th century French method) You can see the original (much more regal) plate here: m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71kTGeSRdNL._AC_UF1000,1000_QL80_.jpg

Love the channel! However I must say this and it may upset a lot of people. But, the days of the week that we associate with certain deities do not originally come from the Norse and Greek deities as taught. They in fact come from the Nile Valley. In was these later civilizations in Europe who got this knowledge from the Nile Valley. Upon this realisation in the 18th century it was not considered appropriate that this sort of knowledge came from African discoveries.

Dear FF, another great and useful vídeo! Fascinating topic indeed. One thought: could the “correspondance” between the day and night hours on the CNMP (Calendarium Naturale Magicum Perpetuum) refer just to the mirroring between the two periods? I mean, could it not perhaps refer just to the equal division into twelve units of the two periods, even implying a difference in the length of day and night hours (which would be logically implied)? An adendum: despite being a Latin-based language, the days of the week in Portuguese do not include the names of the planets, that is, it is different from what happens for instance in French, Italian and Spanish (e.g., in Portuguese Monday is “segunda-feira”, Tuesday is “terça-feira” and so forth). By the way, I noticed that the last part of all your Esoteric News videos ends with a section called “outro” (meaning ‘other’ in Portuguese). Is there some particular reason for you to use this Portuguese word?😊
@FoolishFishBooks
@FoolishFishBooks Жыл бұрын
:D About Outro first, it's a very common word used in English to signify the opposite of "Intro" (though there is no such thing as an "outroduction" lol! It is nevertheless so commonly used that it has an entry in all mainstream dictionaries - www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/outro ) Thank you for pointing out about the days of the week in Portuguese, Pretty dumb assumtion on my part. And finally about the CNMP, no, I'm quite certain that the author thought that the so-called "magnetic" hours could somehow be mapped to the planetary hours, which they can't except on the equinox days. The fact that they are supposed to be "magnetic" hours is written directly on the callendar if you look carefully, the word "Magnetis" is cut up on both sides of the table like [Horae Ma - gnetis]
@thewizardofawes8194
@thewizardofawes8194 Жыл бұрын
@@FoolishFishBooks Waw! Merry-Webster dictionary says that term comes from a blend of OUT and INTRO, doesn't it? In other words, nothing to do with Portuguese. I couldn't recognize that word as an English noun, can you believe it? Oh well, you live and learn… Thank you so much for this true lesson (another one actually). And you're also right about the confusion on the CNMP: it's right there in Horae Magnetis's statement… amazing! What a blunder! Denis, I love your very meticulous and precise look on all matters concerning esoteric matters! No wonder the Foolish Fish Channel has become such an essential and unavoidable vehicle for the dissemination of knowledge for all the occult community! Congratulations again, pal! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 You deserve so much all the success you’re enjoying! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Question, did ancient people though about the influence of planets in terms of energy? If not, what would be the propper concept to use instead. Context: I have a very traumatazing past being raised groomed by various New Age cults, so basically I really cannot engage with any sort of "newagy" terminology. Also I find that talking about energy in this manner is inaccurate, misleading, and inherently alters the way I interact with occult practices and philosophies that did not consider "energy" in the sense we do.

Great video and lovely drawing :) I have a question that I can not find an answer to anywhere. I am trying to use the Sumerian names for the LBRP and LIRP as I have always had a problem with the dogma of Abrahamic religions. As Sumaria is so far the oldest magick system found so far as I know, I wanted to use An, Inanna, Enki and Enil (as per Damien Echols) however what can I use when doing the kalabastic cross instead of using Hebrew words? Is there a Sumerian twin to them?

@@paramedstudy I suppose you could potentially reach out to Samuel David, author of Rod and Ring. Be aware that he may find the question irritating... Or not! What about the summertime and wintertime, if you are born in Europe at summertime, they pull a hour forward, should we pull an hour back for using it?
@FoolishFishBooks
@FoolishFishBooks 6 ай бұрын
Hmm... Seems like you didn't fully understand the video... Summer time and winter time are related to the hours of the 60-minute clock. Planetary hours are related to the sundial - first instant of sunlight to last minute of sunlight = total day time. Total day time / 12 = 1 planetary hour. International conventions don't come into it at all. 🙏

Hi, just noticed from watching this video (great video by the way) that as a level 3 subscriber I should have been getting a monthly form for inclusion into the monthly ritual. The list at the end of the video has me as a level 2 subscriber. Much appreciated if you could look into this. Thanks.
@FoolishFishBooks
@FoolishFishBooks Жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, First of all thank you for your support, and I'm so sorry you've been having trouble accessing the link to the form - KZbin don't allow me to send emails to members like Patreon does, so you guys have to check the messages I put out for you directly on YT, unfortunately. Fortunately, there's an easy fix :) (BTW, Level 2 members don't have their names featured at the end of the video - it's a level 3+ exclusive perk. Only level Infinity, then level 3 from Patreon, and finally level 3 from KZbin, so you don't have to worry about appearing as the wrong level) Every month I put up a link to the new month's form in three places, two of which you have access to: 1. in Patreon (I guess you don't have access as a YT member, not a Patreon member) 2. as a community post on KZbin that is only visible to KZbin members level 3+ 3. on Discord in the "Daily Ritual" channel (which you can access if you follow the instructions detailed in the description of all recent videos) If you check my channel page, on the members' tab, you can scroll down to the posts I put out this month (only visible to YT members - Patreon members get the same messages on Patreon and via e-mail). You'll have to scroll down a bit as it's the end of the month right now and I've posted a fair bit since the beginning of the month, but you'll find the link there. I hope that helps! And again, I'm so sorry for the trouble!
@markmckeon226

Thanks for that. Still trying to wrap my head around Patrion and KZbin subscription regulations. Will explore a bit more. Bye the way, your art work is fantastic. You should do a separate channel on that alone. I've just recently started trying to learn the basics of portrait drawing myself. You should definitely discuss your technique. I always marvel at artists who can do portrait drawing like the last one you did, without using circles and grid lines, just natural from scratch and still get the proportions and shading just right. Anyway thanks again for clearing up my previous query.
