👋 doc on Ft Bragg and I approve this message. DON'T POP BLISTERS. "The advantage of an intact blister is maintenance of a sterile environment during re-epithelialization, minimizing the risk for infection. Blister roofs should only be debrided if there is sign of infection." We can drain blisters in clinic with sterile needles if they're symptomatic and limit patients' everyday activity, but we still keep the roof intact to work like a biologic dressing. But at the end of the day our bodies have natural healing and protective mechanisms, and blisters are a great example of that. Great videos, keep up the good work!

50 miles is quite the ruck! Feet are in pretty good shape,all things considered. Our section instructors gave us some pretty good advice during BMQ. Never pop blisters Always look after your feet Always break in your boots for a while,before attempting long marches or rucks.

Definitely information I wish I knew prior to enlisting. At basic I could score a 300 on the APFT but couldn’t ruck 5K without falling out because my feet with killing me.

This is important stuff. Especially moleskin application. I knew nothing about it years back when I first went in and applied it entirely wrong when i pulled it off it exposed the raw skin underneath the blister and I kept rucking on it. Long story short i developed lesions on the hardpoints of my feet (heels and balls of my feet). I can't remember what liquid the medic applied on the wound but the way it was explained to me was that it essentially hyper-irritated the deep wound to accelerate the calacing process while also disinfecting it. Best way I can describe the feeling was like pouring fire ants into an open wound. Con was that I lost feeling in those areas permanently. Pro was I lost feeling in those areas are forever calaced over and never had an issue again. Given the choice though I would have passed on the fire ants. Good vid!

If you can find a podiatrist that does it near you, they can make you custom carbon fiber insoles for flat feet. They’ll help with the arches, but they cost a pretty penny. Sometimes the Army will refer you out to do them, but it’s a pain so most guys just do it out of pocket.

While at Ft. Lewis came off a 12-mile with bad blister the size of a quarter on the ball of my left foot, went to the aid station. They lanced it and than shot some sticky red liquid into it. I flew off the examination table and damn near hit the ceiling worst pain I ever felt. From then on made sure I always used thin polyester dress socks as a base layer. They wicked sweat away, the tight fit acted as a barrier against friction. Never had problems with running with that combination. Amazing how soldier tips and tricks forge an industry that now makes niche products. Served in Iraqi 2003-2005, yes one of those extended unlucky bastards. This new shit appeared in the tent-x (PX) called Under Armor, made claims about keeping you cool and dry. For weeks it sat on the shelves not selling, they wanted $25 for one T-shirt. I finally took all my pogs (fake PX change) and bought one. It worked so well I bought 10 more. Eventually the px couldn't keep them stocked. Wore them all the time, until Army change the color of their damn t-shirts a few year later. I than bought 5 more and in the ACU T-shirt color, and they fell apart within 6 months, QC had gone to hell. Haven't bought UA products since.

@patrick79334 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard it being used as a hasty method for calluses. If you over do it, your feet may crack and could peel so you’ll have to start fresh all over again toughening the skin. I haven’t done it myself, but I’d recommend good moisturizer to help prevent cracking. If you do try it, let us know how it goes. Pretty sure they recommend mixing it with water btw
