After playing manager mode on FIFA for so many years. This was my first football manager I bought and God is it daunting for new comers at least for me. So many different things you can look at and into and have a say in. A lot of the time I don't even understand how to apply my assistants recommendations as I don't even understand what he's telling me to do. It feels like if you don't know everything about the game and how it works you've got no chance. Also any recommendations on how to stop getting over run in midfield every single damn game no matter who I'm against or what their formation is?

I also constantly see the midfield overrun and only the generally good quality of my team and the good morale/teamwork capability has seen me win far more than I lose. I'm Rotherham United playing 4-4-2. Guess maybe a switch to 3-5-2?

Hahaha now I get like why some of my players went down in attribute cuz I used team cohension a lot , lol now I guess I’ll focus more in attacking and probably tactical ! Great stuff ! Thanks man !
@SGProductions876 жыл бұрын
You covered everything but the most important thing: workload! The match prep slider and general training intensity govern how much time players allocate to general training and match prep. If you tell the players to spend a lot of time on these things, that's less time devoted to individual training, and that's bad for any manager who wants to shape his players according to his own desires through individual training! So, once your team has good tactical familiarity, you need to bring that match prep slider way down to 10% so they maintain their current familiarity (doesn't matter which prep you select for this), and look to reduce general training to low or even very low intensity. Important to keep the players' individual workload higher than light but lower than heavy! If you don't want the team to use general training at all you can switch to team cohesion, and then the amount of PA used on attributes other than those you select from individual training will be significantly decreased. A lot of people say it has a negative overall effect to do this, and I can't say I know. Proceed with caution!

very interesting video ! I have a question about training in FM2017: how to get fluidity in you tactic at the first season as quick as possible ? How do you advice to set friendlies, how many, etc.
@fm-life5997 жыл бұрын
+ghibbster thanks for watching mate. Set the match prep to match tactics and have it as high as possible taking the maximum amount of time available. I'd set friendlies every 3-4 days while getting my main squad playing as much as possible until they reach 90+ match fitness. Also look into setting a few friendlies for your under 21s and have your back up players play until match fit.
@ghibbster7 жыл бұрын
I see, but how much time on average it takes to get fluidity ? I'm asking because usually (even in a team with decent staff and facilities ... say Napoli that is my favourite team) I takes to me a lot of time to get fluidity while I read people in forums writing they got fluidity before the start of the season ... something I didnt achieve yet nevertheless of my several attempts.
@fm-life5997 жыл бұрын
+ghibbster it takes around 3 months. If you only train the one tactic and everyone is playing in familiar roles it can be quicker.

Hi. Love your tips on training. Question. I play a 4-1-2-3 formation. Using the attacking midfielders to cut in as inside forwards, with wing backs bombing forwards. I dominate games , but battle to get shots on target. it's always chances wasted . How can i make my forwards better finishers

@fm-life5997 жыл бұрын
+takitsan79 i wouldn't use it for every match. Pretty much. The other thing u can do is dont have to many tactics but i wouldn't recommend that
@speleokeir7 жыл бұрын
The more differences between your 3 tactics the longer it will take to become fluid in them. Also the more new players you have the longer it will take to become fluid. If you've kept the same tactic as last season and only bring in a few new players then it won't take your squad long to become fluid since most of them are already familiar with your tactics. e.g If you train 3 different mentalities, 3 different types of passing, 3 different tempos, etc It will take you longer to become fluid than if you only have a couple of differences. Basically it's a trade off. The more differences in your tactics the more flexibility you'll have in changing your tactics during a match. Personally I prefer to have as much flexibility as possible even though I know it will take my players a little longer to become fluid. Of course you can make any change you want, but if you suddenly ask your players to play long ball, pump the ball into the box and play at a high tempo and those aren't part of your 3 tactics then they'll be less effective at it. The more elements they haven't trained in, the more likely they'll make a mess of things. For that reason I set up my tactics as follows: After picking my main tactic I personally like my 2 secondary tactics to be variations on it. i.e. ones where I don't have to sub a player to change the tactic. e.g my main formation uses a 3 man defense so my secondary tactics do too. Where my tactics vary is in stuff like mentality, tempo, passing style, width. Basically stuff that I might change during a game. Basically as well as my main tactic I'll have another set up where I become more defensive and stifle the game and a third where I'm attacking all out if I want a late goal to win/equalise in the last minutes of the match. I try not to ask my players to do anything they haven't been trained in, although the odd thing here or there probably won't matter too much.

Good video, some good tips there. Is there any benefit in rotating the training from week to week or fortnight to fortnight, eg focus on attacking one period, then defending the next, so that all players at least get some improvement in the areas which concern them? I noticed a few years back, when I hadn't done much defending training, my defenders were giving away stupid fouls and penalties, and seemed to improve once I'd switched the training to focus on defending. So maybe the training should be based on what you observe in games...eg not attacking enough, so focus on attacking, dribbling sucks, so focus on ball control, and so forth. In recent times I keep hearing it doesn't work this way though. Has SI ever come out with a definite explanation?
@fm-life5998 жыл бұрын
hey mate thanks for watching, people that have worked closely with SI have said that its a long term training goal and not short term. i will mix my training up throughout the year but as i said in the video i only change it every 4months. if you are training your team in attacking for 4 months the defenders still train on there defensive position training and also individual attribute as well. if you do notice your team lacking in defense in one game change your next games match prep to defensive positioning. however this only will improve it for that one game :)

Thanks for the video, very helpful! 1 question regarding training? what to do if you have players (in my case just 1) that is always unhappy with the training plan (both team and individual?) second question, any tips on what to do in order to get approached by another club to train them? i have played 2 seasons with a portuguese team, won the championship and all domestic cups in both seasons and played through Champions league until quarter finals and no invites...
@fm-life5997 жыл бұрын
no worries thanks for watching mate. if its only the one player i wouldn't worry about it too much. if hes younger than 21 and not a major figure in your first team i would get him tutored by a professional. if hes unhappy about his individual training you i would look into it and maybe change it if youre not getting any results. do you mean job offers???

Hello, another question coming up :P By now my general team training usually consists of a balanced training all season long, except for a few weeks of fitness at the start of the season. I didn't detect any real benefit when focussing on let's say attacking for a few months. And then I always switch the individual focus to the training recommended every few weeks. This way noone is complaining about a wrong additional focus. But I do wonder whether I switch the focus to fast to really benefit from it. So here my question: While the different attributes of the players are represented by integer values in the players info sheet, they are shown in 0.2 steps in the attribute progress tab. Does the game actually calculate with integer values during the match, so that I should always wait until a player improves an entire valuepoint before switching focus or does it calculate in those 0.2 steps?
@natanulsiref6 жыл бұрын
And btw, thnx a lot for your answers! Really love your channel and your videos on fm scout - helped me out a lot!
@fm-life5996 жыл бұрын
To be honest I don't really know. I haven't read anywhere that it does or doesn't. It would make sense for it to take into account every .02 increase or decrease otherwise why show it. I also think you might be changing individual training up too much as well. I would typically leave individual training for around 6 months or so and then change things up if it's not getting the results
@natanulsiref6 жыл бұрын
Ah, I just realized that I never replied. Thanks for the answer! I guess some things in fm stay misterious no matter how deep you dive into the game.

At any given time I seem to have 2-3 players in my squad that have red arrows on basically all attributes, without any obvious reason - no injury, no hard fitness training, potential not maxed out, not overplayed (big enough squad to rotate), not unhappy... I don't really get it. It seems to kind of cancel out previous improvements and annoys me. Can I do anything about it?
@fm-life5996 жыл бұрын
natanulsiref it happens a lot with older players that aren't playing as much and have reached their full potential. The game is adjusting and repositioning some of their attributes. There's not much you can do about it unfortunately but with the younger players I see their attributes bounce back straight away.
@natanulsiref6 жыл бұрын
To me it seems to be a little too prevalent in my squad. Even younger players with potential have there attributes drop once in a while. But I guess there isn't a lot I can do about it. Thnx for the answer though!

Hey there, I've got a question concerning injuries in FM 17. I'm managing Fulham right now and my start into my second season there was just horrible. Eight matches into the season I have three!!! first team players with an achilles tendon torn and one with a tibia fracture (plus several minor injuries). Each of the four players will be out for more than half a year. Is this just bad luck or can I do anything about it? It's just muscle injuries that stand in any connection to my training regime, right? Thnx alot for an answer! This insanity just has to stop immediately or I'll stand no chance to reach my goals this season...
@fm-life5996 жыл бұрын
+natanulsiref hey buddy that's some back luck there. I would of thought that training can effect tendon and joint injury so you might want to lower the workload to medium also rotation is key and not playing someone when they have a condition of lower than 94%
@natanulsiref6 жыл бұрын
Alright, I usually play them at 90 and above. Maybe I have to be more careful in this regard. Thnx!

Great vid! You know im really struggling beating teams away from home, i have a world class squad with arsenal but i really struggle. I have a tactic that i use away from home that is on counter but i still manage to leak more goals away from home. Got any tips?
@fm-life5997 жыл бұрын
adidasbe thanks mate. it's a hard one to answer without knowing the full story of your tactic and how you're conceding goals. the counter mentality will drop the defensive line and sometimes invite your opponent to attack. there's no set rules when playing at home or away but just know that if your playing away your opponent will look to attack. how they attack and how you stop the attack differs from side to side.

Does the happiness of the players affect their training? So if they complain about too high workload, should i not train them individually, or that doesn't really matter? Also why could that happen, that a 17-18 year old 5 star potential player doesn't get any increase in his attributes over long periods of time? He was playing in the first team, wasn't injured that much. Any tips how to avoid that?
@fm-life5998 жыл бұрын
it can affect your players training performance but the "too high workload" one i never really care about as i haven't noticed it affecting the training performance too much. if you get "not enough focus in def coaching etc" then you should address the issue also if the player doesn't see a benefit in his individual training i would change this as well. for your 17-18 year old it might depend on your training facilities or the level your playing at. Also it depends on your general training and his individual schedule. is the balance right are you training too hard in general training and those attributes your training may be maxed out for that player and are taking away time from his individual training.
@jakubecz8 жыл бұрын
I see, i will not be that feint hearted on their complaining then. Shame about that young player of mine. So what you mean is, for example i have high general training then he won't get that much individual training?

So if we set training to something eg Attacking for 3 weeks, then change it, those 3 weeks are lost? In which case why bother using Cohesion for 2 weeks? And why does the game heavily recommend you use Fitness training in the preseason?
@fm-life5996 жыл бұрын
Team cohesion is the exception to the rule as it doesn't train attributes so you don't have to leave it for 3 months to take affect. I haven't seen the game recommend fitness in preseason so I can't comment on that

Heres a tip, never train a youth player as a complete forward. Train them as an inside forward instead. It trains the same ratings but makes them a more versatile player. And since they would be training on the wing it prioritizes pace and accel more.
@fm-life5996 жыл бұрын
Yeah training fewer attributes at a time can increase the speed in which they increase.
