Are you interested in self-awareness, personal growth, and self-improvement? Don’t we all want greater insights into what makes us tick, so we can become the best version of ourselves? Trent Shelton does. The former pro football player who now inspires millions with his books, motivational speaking, and podcast-has been on a journey of self-exploration and personal development ever since his football career ended prematurely after suffering a concussion. In the decade since then, he has looked inward to better his life and encouraged others to look inside themselves to enhance their lives. But after all that reflection, there was one thing Shelton still hadn’t seen-his brain.
“How can you know yourself if you don’t know your brain?” ‪@TrentSheltonVideos‬
That’s the rhetorical question Shelton asked Dr. Daniel Amen when he visited Amen Clinics to get a brain SPECT scan as part of the Scan My Brain video series. Shelton was curious about a few issues he was experiencing-short-term memory problems, social anxiety, and focus. “I’m a last-minute person,” he admitted with a laugh. He also wanted to take the opportunity to share his brain scan experience with his followers as a way to educate and encourage them.

I love the way you bring the Bible in. You help so many people. Our daughter has a closed head injury sustained in 1987. In 2007 we found out she had a large Desmoid tumor stemming from her neck. She had it removed at MD Anderson followed by radiation to her neck for 25 days. She also has 2 children. It’s been quite the ride. Thank you Dr. Amen for your wonderful videos!!!! I continue to learn from you.

My older brother has severe closed head injury from his Second US Military Tour. Doing 60 mph on his Honda 360 motorcycle, a lady ran a red light. He hit right jaw first, into the roll cage, driver's side, back seat. At 60 mph. It was 1981. I was 21. He was 23. He just turned 63. 3/4 paralized on his left side - including his tongue - and a tested median acquity between 8 and 13 years old. People... motorcycles are dangerous, as well as driving a car, SUV, truck, etc. Safety first. The brain can only suffer so many concussions in life, slamming back and forth inside the skull like a raw egg, before it destroys the gray matter between the eustachian tubes, aka, the brain. Stay safe and well, everyone, from your eternal sister in Christ somewhere near Seattle and around the World... Much love and prayers to one and all... Life is so precious... and fleeting. Make every moment count, ok? ⚘ 🙏❤🙏 ⚘

He asked a important question ‘do a lot of players not know about it or not want the truth. The answer may be more complicated. You don’t go out to your car and cut battery cable before trying to start the car then are surprised it won’t start. Your brain is the same and instead of one cable you have trillions of connections. So when you figuratively cut a persons cable your cutting functions. The brain is also involved in awareness they might not have the software to understand because there brain is that damaged. Scary thought. Also it is very traumatic for the person to come to grips with the damage they have done to themselves. So that means the Limbic region and frontal Cortez are not connecting well which is what happens in trauma to protect the person. That also shows up in the FMRI studies. When people get information they don’t want ( traumatic info) you see a decreased activity between amygdala and frontal Cortez. Trauma is disastrous for brain function. Also you can have damage to molecule peptides and have it wipe out functions in the brain based on location. So there are air molecules in front of you can you see them? Of course not. So good luck finding that in the brain. It’s pretty clear the brain is the most delicate thing in the known universe, a little bit more respect for it would be GREAT. Thanks Trent Shelton for doing this. I have been encouraging more athletes (humans) do this and make it public. It helps prevent GASLIGHTING. SOUND LIKE MORE NFL players need to work on there balls and get this done. The bigger the name the better. Can we get Merril Hodge in there? I am pretty sure he would be a puddle on the ground if he saw what his brain looked like.
