This episode of The Brain Warrior's Way Podcast features information, tips, and how to's on diet, inflammation, and neural reprogramming. Dr. Kabran Chapek is a naturopathic physician and author of the book "Concussion Rescue."
Could You Have a Brain Injury and Not Know It? with Dr. Kabran Chapek
With a growing database of over 150,000 brain scans, one of the biggest lessons Dr. Daniel Amen has learned in his work is that mild traumatic brain injuries can destroy lives, and people don’t even recognize it. In this episode of the podcast, Dr. Amen and his wife Tana are joined by “Concussion Rescue” author Kabran Chapek of a discussion on how these brain injuries can occur, and why people tend to overlook them.
Rehabilitate Your Brain by Taking These Nutrients, with Dr. Kabran Chapek
The standard concussion protocol has evolved over the years and greatly improved outcomes for people who suffer head injuries. Sadly, however, many of the long-term effects of such injuries are never addressed, and many of these brains eventually regress. In the second episode of a series with “Concussion Rescue” author Dr. Kabran Chapek, he and the Amens reveal the nutrients and supplements that will keep your brain in a healing state for the long term.
Concussion Rescue: What to Do to Heal Your Brain, with Dr. Kabran Chapek
If you’ve suffered a head injury, or even if you’ve developed some bad habits over the years, your brain will need to heal in order to function at max capacity once again. So what can you do to heal your brain? In this episode of The Brain Warrior’s Way Podcast, Dr. Daniel Amen and Tana Amen are again joined by Dr. Kabran Chapek to discuss the risk factors for brain health issues and how to address them.
What Happens to Your Brain After a Concussion? With Dr. Kabran Chapek
When you suffer a brain injury, even something as minor as a concussion, your brain won’t just heal on its own. You must be active in your recovery to avoid experiencing the various side effects that often accompany these injuries. In the last episode of a series with “Concussion Rescue” author Dr. Kabran Chapek, he and the Amens discuss the impact that a brain injury can have on your life, and why it’s crucial to put your brain in a healing environment.

The ER misses so many concussions it’s almost not worth going unless the symptom manifestation is severe and obvious enough. Even then I just watched a documentary about a girl who had such severe amnesia after hurting her head. It should’ve been obvious that she had a concussion, but she went to the ER and her scans came back normal. She had to go to some obsolete place out in Utah that specializes in concussions to get diagnosed with a concussion when it was obvious, she had head trauma.

This advice has changed my life. I listen to the Amens almost every day, & have realized/learned so much! I live in South Africa, age 65,& also realize the importance of having a proper brain scan, after concussion. Increased stress in business needs to be reduced somehow. Excercising properly has helped. Thanks again 🙏🏻🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I’ve had post concussion syndrome for 3 years. It’s horrific. I’m getting better but it’s a very slow process. I wish my doctors knew these things and told me what I could do in the beginning. It’s crazy how even most doctors don’t know about these things. Big pharma doesn’t make money when doctors recommend lifestyle choices and supplements for healing instead of drugs. For me, exercise and the keto diet works best.

This program and the book has changed my life and perspective on my mtbi. After my er visit and ct scan, then a visit to a neurologist who prescribed Topamax for my intense head and neck pain, and telling me to rest, minimize my computer work, and give it time, 6 months later and I still have many if not most of my effects from the concussion. So thanks to Dr Amen and Tana and this program and your other resources, I did my own research and and learned 10x more than my dr told me. So grateful to you all. Wish I could get a spect scan. But will do what I can to apply what I have learned. Thank you so much.

I can not express in words how watching this has helped! I suffered a traumatic brain injury after getting hit in the back of the head with a heavy box at work. For five months I have been begging for help from my Nurologist. All the things you described are exactly what I have been going through. However, my speech was also affected. I have a difficult time reading and plan to purchase the Kindle version. In doing so, I can listen to the book as I have listened to other books.

I have had several car accidents and head injuries, never have I been checked for concussion. Even this time, I went to a clinic and saw my doctor within a week of the concussion, no one would send me for a scan. They don't do that here in Ontario.

I’ve worked in an ER and seen concussion patients told NOTHING about self care after the injury when it’s not an “admitting” situation. No warnings of behavior to watch for, or risk of driving, or minimizing risk of secondary injuries.

This was so helpful. I got a concussion on the 12th of Nov, and I have learned so much listening to your videos. I believe this happened for me because I am a Sexuality & ADHD Coach/Therapist. I am going to discuss this with my clients now, when we first meet. I am also including this video in my eBook. Thank you so much Dr. Amen. You teach me so much.

I have a 2nd child you had many head concussions as a child, multiple head stitches from fall. I’m worried that he had injured his brain because his behavior is so different. Hyperactive, showing signs of autism but doctor diagnosed him as just a slow learner but no autism.

I've had concussions in the past is it too late to start supplementing to help me? My major symptoms are brainfog 24/7 and memory. I cant retain almost anything. I'm also breastfeeding. Thoughts please
@AmenClinic
@AmenClinic 4 жыл бұрын
It's not too late. Of course, you'll need to consult a physician since you're breastfeeding, but Dr. Chapek's new book "Concussion Rescue" (www.amazon.com/Concussion-Rescue-Comprehensive-Program-Traumatic/dp/0806540230) has many recommendations and at Amen Clinics we have a Concussion Rescue Program (www.amenclinics.com/services/concussion-rescue-program/)

Will the book be enough for me to do this on my own? The doctors I have consulted for help dont know how to answer most of my questions or get me on the right path. I dont have the funds to go through other doctors that are out of my insurance. I just want to feel better so I can get back to work and be present for my family

I see my students getting injured all the time from sports...especially from skating , soccer and football. Thanks.

Dr. Amen, I've read several of your books on A.D.H.D. and they were _mind/life_ altering! Do you take WA apple health?! On my way to work 10+ years ago I hit an illegally parked semi truck in Tacoma and have had serious chronic fatigue ever since... I woke up a day and a half later and was released from the hospital... "do you feel ok?" only to realize once I hit the street "crap... where do I _LIVE?!"_ 🤔 I split my head open on the stainless steel spokes of my steering wheel.

I am in South Africa, my brother fell in 2019 and he was unconscious and hospitalized for 3 months. He has been in and out of hospital but there is not improvement in his condition. He has lost memory of most things, struggles speaking, slow to answer, very impatient etc. What is it that can be done for now? Our village hospitals are not that well equipped with some of the things mentioned here. Going for a brain scan can take months in a queue and end up not having it. I would just appreciate simple steps of things to do at this stage.

My husband incurred a small frontal brain bleed & a concussion two months ago. I am worried because he is not the same person I married. He’s very short tempered, agitated easily, suffering memory loss & very angry most of the time. He is totally a different person than the sweet loving man I married 29 years ago. Help! He fights me on taking supplements & won’t seek help. What. Do I do?
