I watched a study/documentary on KZbin a while back, I can't remember the name. And it more or less summed up why Miami is falling apart, before they ever existed in this form. The Tldr is, the Dolphins built their offense to fight an NFL defense that doesn't exist anymore. Back in 2020 and 2021, nfl offenses exploded. Mahomes, Allen and Stafford lit up nfl defenses for absurd amounts of points and yards. And nfl defense took notice. DCs started adopting defenses designed to kneecap those deep air/yac type passing attacks and it worked. The passing game has dropped off considerably since then, to the point where Mel kiper wants 2 high safety banned. And the best NFL teams adapted. The Bills and Chiefs for example stopped the deep attack, and started pushing the run, screens and shallow passes. Mahomes and Josh Allen became Tom Brady like short passers instead of big play QBs. The ultimate example of this was KC letting their deep play WR go in free agency. And he went to Miami. Miami built an offense modeled after those bills, chiefs and rams teams. Speed on display, deep passing and yac. The problem is, defenses have changed since the rams saw success with that. Its an offense that will beat up on bad teams and bad coordinators, but the moment they see a team playing that anti-big play shell, they fold like a house of cards. That's why Miami can't beat good teams. They aren't built to. And they need to evve if they are going to survive.

@terranceramirez4816Ай бұрын
That’s really funny about McDaniel. The Bears’ biggest current problem is that Shane Waldron’s scheme and play calling doesn’t fit Caleb Williams’s strengths and apparently Matt Eberflus likes to meddle in the offense. Fire Eberflus and get someone like Daboll or Kliff Kingsbury and they’ll get better. Oh, and draft/sign a damn O-line

The Dolphins need to fire Grier and McDaniel and for Tua to retire because he is going to get another concussion sooner or later anyway. I wish Steven Ross would sell the team but if he doesn't he needs to forget about glitz, glamour and speed and think you can win a Superbowl like that. Dolphins have a poor roster, I said it coming into this year. Overpaid old players, injuries galore, bad OL, and questionable QB. The fact that they EVER looked like a dominant team is a huge credit to McDaniel. If I was a Dolphin fan, he's the only core part of the team I'd want to keep. I agree. My wife is good friends with a Top-25 college football coach’s wife that has spent time in the NFL. As he told me last spring, part of the reason coaches get paid so well is that you are going to take the blame for failure and be blacklisted, regardless if you had success prior to that. He jokingly says “pay up front” when moving to a new town, because you probably won’t be there long enough to pay off a mortgage. The days of coaches spending decades with one team are long, long gone.

Excellent analysis. What you are basically saying is that the problem (and there is one) with the Dolphins is roster construction. Mmm that would lead me to think the problem would lie with their GM, Chris Grier. Grier was in complete control of a complete roster teardown and rebuild over the last 6 years. He amassed a huge amount of draft capital in that process and this team is the result. I believe this cluster-f is on him and the Dolphins will not be good until he is gone. If you want the details on his serial incompetence there are several good channels that specialize in covering the Dolphins. One that I would recommend is Ace Per Head.

@CodeezeyАй бұрын
I respectfully disagree with some of these takes on Miami. One point a lot of people make is essentially anticipating Tua is going to get hurt. Now I get the history of concussions and his hip issues in college. But referencing last season, him going without an injury like he previously fell victim to isn’t an accident. From the limited information I have, it seems he(or the team, or both) got him a helmet specifically designed for him (I’ve heard it had cost in upwards of $50k) which really did “save” him from his prior issues. So people leaning in to “oh this is to be expected” I don’t think are giving it a genuine look. This was an awkward and fairly rare angle of impact that would’ve equally hurt anyone. I will concede because of his hip injury he was stuck between a rock and a hard place to make the decision to dive forward or stand up & risk injury on his already damaged hip. But that said, the actual impact itself is not something he’s “predisposed” to or anything, any player having their neck hit like that would do the same thing. Now that aside, I think people have had a little misunderstanding about the o-line. Something a few other KZbinrs have pointed out (maybe it was TFG or Brett Kollman) Tua really was the offense for this team. Love him or hate him, he does have a specific skill set that Mike McDaniel has really set up for success; that being impeccable timing & accuracy. I personally believe Tua has an underrated arm alongside those skills as well. But some other comments suggest Miami has copied previous antiquated offensive schemes people have moved on from, but really they’ve created explosive plays from a different angle than those before them. And without Tua, there is no balance in this offense and allows any defense to pin their ears back and stuff the run as they’ve been one dimensional without him. I don’t think with the line they had last year, or this year is anything close to exceptional. They just benefited from the passing game being so explosive that McDaniel took advantage of the defense giving cushion for the big plays they tend to get. Ultimately, I think what caused their issues in the Playoffs is more of a weather thing (the colder it is the harder it is to successfully execute their passing offense) and they are 100% NOT equipped to lean on their o-line to overpower anyone. They’re a finesse team and unfortunately can’t keep up in contests of strength. All that jabbering aside, I think McDaniel is a fantastic coach and could eventually figure it out, as long as he has Tua in good health though. I think a lot of people count them out and don’t look deep enough to see why things have went the way they have for them. I hope ole Tua does get to come back in good health if he decides to, and they put it together and continue to show us some fun football 🏈

Folks, as a life time fan of the fish, I can tell you, none of what is happening is surprising, they go through this cycle every five years or so, and it's enabled by a useless owner and crackhead for a GM. Anytime they see limited success, they think they are Superbowl ready, overspend massively, watch it fall apart 2-3 years later, and then we get a new head coach, and it well known that the GM rarely listens to the coaching staff when it comes to players, contracts, and the direction for the team. And to be fair, Flores and mcDaniels are the only two decent coaches he's hired, and then what he could to undermine and fight with them.

To say this team doesn’t have the talent is crazy. Overreaction after three games. This team was the #1 offense in the league last year and at one point were top three in every analysts NFL power rankings. The major issue is the o-line, McDaniels inability to call a game, and health. Adding one or two pcs to the line, with a healthy roster puts this team right there as long as McDaniel can figure it out. With Tua they absolutely had a chance against the Seahawks. They had first and goal twice and came away with three points. Skylar was a deer in headlights all game

Mike McDaniel is a good offensive mind but he goes soft anytime they're behind. Hasn't been impressive from an all around HC standpoint imo.

If I’m the Miami dolphins since I’m a dolphins fan I would do this hire either the bills GM or the Lions GM and fire Mike and hire Ben Johnson and go out and tank for Cam Ward and boom will be like WSH is this year with new team, new ownership and etc.

i was asking why did they let mike white go? that was your only hope for at least 2 years to run for the superbowl if tua got hurt. he had everything you need in a top QB. being able to really play would have made him turn up. big mistake. and he was at home. he would have went toe to toe with josh.

Miami needs to give up as many first round picks they have for Matthew Stafford. He clearly still balling out after that sf game.

Believe it or not The Dolphins are still very fixable. Tua needs to stop being in his head. He played bad his first two games and he needs to learn how to slide. He can recover from the concussion. But he probably won't in a timely manner
@FourOhForeАй бұрын
bro how do you watch this entire video and come away with the conclusion that they are still "very fixable"? Almost 80% of the video outlined how even outside of Tua, the Dolphins completely screwed themselves in the offseason and aren't in a position to fix their problems anytime soon. Tua learning how to slide is not going to fix their aging roster, the complete lack of a draft class and their need for good trench players..

@@FourOhFore They had one of the best drafts out of all teams going by the consensus what are you talking about? And Miami has been drafting well for years now. The only problem is paying them all. And Miami has been had that problem for two seasons now. I think they usually find a way to succeed

To say that the bills weren't playing that good during the Dolphins and Bill's match up is ridiculous because of how the defense took care of the bills as much as they could. If there is one good thing about the Dolphins at the moment which isn't even that good right now it's the defense and it keeps on placing the Dolphins into opportunities where the offense should be able to capitalize but unfortunately that same offense is a terrible train wreck at the moment and while I understand people calling out the offense for what we all see on game day we should also give credit to the defense because they are the only reason people are so worried about the Dolphins. So much potential in the offense and defensive production on the field going to waste because the o-line, QB and playcalling issues. We will have a very negative year if this keeps on... It's embarrassing
@FootballAnalysis1Ай бұрын
The point regarding the Bills was that Josh Allen wasn’t playing at MVP level Josh Allen (mainly because he didn’t have to). The defense was absolutely killing it

Not true. They’ve only been like this since the 90’s. They had good teams in the 90’s and 1972-74 was one of the most dominant stretches of football ever for any franchise.

Exactly as I fear would happen, once we didn't sign anyone to replace Hunt, and then drafting Chop in the 1st with a massive holes around the o-line for decades now it feels like. Chris Grier is an idiot. Between paying an injured qb, without getting a quality backup, the lack of building the oline, the roster construction plus the misses of the draft picks, he has to get fired immediately. Trading a 1st for Chubb then immediately paying him that money instead of trading for Roquan Smith that same deadline, was so idiotic at the time and still is now. Until he is gone, we will never see a glimpse of a playoff win. Last one was in the year 2000 mind you. Might as well tear it up completely. McDaniel hasn't improved from his issues including the lack of discipline, getting the playcalls in so late in the play clock. The inability to beat good teams. The lack of prep that was on display Sunday has completely lost all hope I had in McDaniel. He is the odd man out if Grier does get fired. Might as well fire him after this season. I love Tua, but he is not the guy at QB. He masks a lot of issues offensively, but it gets to a point like it has this season, that he has to step it up beside that, and the Buffalo game he stunk it up so bad before the injury. There is an out after this year from this contract so I hope the new GM if we ever do get one, exercises that. The complete rebuild from 2019 has failed tremendously. With all the assets we had, other teams like the Texans and Lions have rebuilt quicker than us. Stephen Ross has a knack of half assing a rebuild by firing the coach and keeping the GM. If Ross wants to see a serious contender before he passes, he has to clean house after this year.
@SlXkxmxАй бұрын
They threw so much money at Tua after his history of concussions and weren’t smart enough my to get a viable backup… Yeah, could be a rough few years
@WarpandXeno88Ай бұрын
They need to get rid of some of the overpaid players. Hill, Tua, and Ramsey, are all too expensive. They need to invest that money into an o line and draft a QB.
