Spain can be proud of themselves despite the loss. That was their best performance in this tournament. I hope, because Morata missed a crucial penalty, the fans spare him. That miss turned the game around. The difference between victory and loss was a clinical finisher. Spain created enough opportunities. If they had a proper, reliable finisher, they'd be staying at Wembley.

When people will realize that in nowadays football the traditional scorer doesn't exist anymore... besides, I don't see people critizising Immobile as much as Morata, for not making goals. It's just dumb 🤦‍♂️ Morata plays for his offensive midfielders, which are the first options to score. And scoring against Italy is not easy AT ALL, making those chances is a tough task, because italian defenders are very close always and pestering the guy with the ball. I beg people to use their brain, please. How many goals Italy received against alongside the eurocup? Saying that Spain didn't pass to the final because they doesn't have a finisher is DUMB

The strenght of Italy team and italians in general, it's the ability to adapt themselves to different situations and hurdles. This has always been the strenght, not only in football. Further, even if Spain got ball possession, both teams shot to the target 4 times and Italy one woodwork too. Both teams deserved to win and yes, Italy was lucky: but I've never seen an unlucky winner.

I should have probably made it more clear that I'm not just talking with the Italy match in mind though, but basically the whole tournament. Thinking back to Sweden and Poland or Croatia and Switzerland, all those matches would go a lot differently if the chances Morata and Moreno fluffed fell to a more clinical player. That said, I hope Spina can make a speedy recovery because I'd love to see him back at his best for the World Cup. When your opponent plays with false 9....the best way to counter is to press high up the field...try to score a goal or two within the first 30-35 minutes....the longer the game goes, the more the opponent gets stronger since pressing man to man takes up more energy....

@@rajeepthapa5426 Having a back 3 to counter a false 9 is never going to work (assuming the opponent has lethal wingers, which Spain did not have in this game).. @jphi6788

If Chiellini or Bonucci comes out marked Olmo, it gives too much space in the center of the defense that can be exploited by Torres or Oyarzabal if the pressing fails, which can often happen with technical or mobile players like Olmo, Pedri or Koke. The speed of Chielini or Bonucci does not ensure good depth coverage either. The best answer for Italy is to play lower (without a real center forward, it is not dangerous to defend the centers) and to take advantage of the spaces due to Spain's risk-taking. It's not very beautiful, but that's what Italy did in the second half and rightly so.

You have to play what opponent let you to play. Spanish guys was just too good evading the pressing and they had good chances from central part of the field.. Then Italy chose to be realistic and said: ok, you just too good. Lez play a classic waiting counter strategy, filled the center and let the ball go to wings. Strategy worked well and Italy got 1-0. Then Mancini messed up some subs and Spanish pressur was just too High for 30minutes defending. 1-1 was fair. Then Spanish became less precise and Italy went totally full defence mode. Penalty kicks are Just a lottery. The game was a draw quite Fair cause Italy had at least 5 clear scoring chances.

I think Italy was quite ok to let Spain have the ball most of the time knowing that they wouldn’t be able to do so much with it. The plan was to defend compact and hit on the counter. This is what happened in almost all of Italy’s chances (2 times hitting the posts and the goal) while they also created 1 chance from “regular” open play. Spain had not created more than Italy (1 very good save from Donnarumma, 1 time when there was a quite messy situation in the box with Chiellini saving a shot directed to goal and the actual goal they scored). The rest of the game was a very sterile Spain possession of the ball with many long shots going high and wide.

It's a good video but the title could say...and how Mancini adapted! I thought Spain had them on the ropes + they did but I rewatched the 2nd half + ET again + it was much closer than what I originally thought. Italy could have made it 2-0 on the break. Spain were so good in possession + were a bit faster than the other game's I've seen them in, but you have to admire how Italy can adapt + always seem to find a way. I was surprised by how they seemed fine to let Spain dictate the tempo but they were getting played through in the 1st half, so Mancini accepted it + pushed them back. It was the right thing to do. Spain were scared of Italy's breakaway pace + Chiesa's goal showed why. It hit the net 11 sec's after Donnarumma rolled it out! But it could've gone either way? It was 4-4 on shots on target + if Italy had been a bit more savvy + not been offside so often they could've easily been in a few more times too. But after losing the last 2 pen so's to Spain, I hoped it'd be Italy's turn this time. I think they've been the most impressive team overall + to win in a more defensive style just shows how strong + versatile they are. But it was more about heart, spirit, resilience + a cool mentality than tactics! And saying they were fortunate is stretching it a bit imo as it implies that they had little threat themselves + puts the onus more on Spain's forwards as failures more than Italy's great desire to see it through! (Berardi had 3 chances after he came on for eg, 1/2 chances but he 'scored' an offside goal from a more difficult position!) Spain didn't deserve to go out after a performance like that though + both deserve credit for such a great match. What do you do? Leave Morata out + dominate possession but lack a cutting edge? Or bring him on for his goal threat + disrupt some of the tempo + rhythm in midfield? Cause Spain weren't as fluent after all their changes, Italy's subs had a more positive impact too. They were even tighter + started to break once again.

The false nine approach gave Spain dominance over the midfield. Before the game some analysts believed the team who would dominate the midfield would win the game. In the end I think this approach hampered Spains winning chances, because of the problems they had in the final phase of the attack. It sounds obvious, but I think Italy handled the tactical challenge well. They lost the battle on the midfield, but kept Spain from getting really dangerous in front of the goal, which made them win the game in the end.

I'm not so 'sophisticated' analyzing the matches, and probably that's why i like this channel lol, but for my experience of football lover i can say that you can have the ball possession even by 95%, creating the most dangerous situation along the match, covering better the spaces and all......but when players like Oyarzabal literally 'blows' 2 clear and easy goal.......than you must be worried, something bad is coming to knock at yar door. Morata missed the penalty....like others of his team, but at least he leveled the match during the 90 mins and played truly well. We suffered Spain ofc, but never fall except for the 1-1 by Morata. Both team played at their best possibility with the players we had for that match. Rest is history. We STAY at Wembley not because we are the best, or the luckyest, or the chosen one......but simply because we can't lose. Maybe we will fail the Finale, lol. I hope not.....but as they say "Winner is who's score 1 more then the others". This and only this will make the difference this Sunday 🏆

great analysis. But playing with the falso nueve has some side effects, it's difficult to score, since you have no real strikers. So great Spain midfielders could keep the ball possession, due also to the numeric superiority, but they couldn't really break the last line of the defense. On the other hand, Italy could score with much fewer ball possessions having real strikers. I think it could be a paradox, but the final result reflects the two tactics. With the falso nueve you don't give reference to the opposite defense, but you don't give the same also to your midfielders, who can only pass the ball around the opposite defense. With a good defense like the Italian one, what happened, to reach the penalties, makes sense. I don't blame the Spain for their tiki taka, but I also don't blame the Italian defensive game.

It wasn't until they scored the first goal thanks to Eric mistake that they decided to stop trying anymore and build the wall because Spain was kicking their ass from minute 5 and it was a matter of time they scored with how good they were playing and the amount of close chances they had, in fact it was surprising how they hadn't yet, and even then at the moment of their strongest defense, Spain ended up scoring when Morata entered, moment where I tell yout that most Italians saw themselves out of the tournament. Italy from minute 60 spent the rest of the game begging to god for the match to end, they were just getting stomped left and right, it was the worst performance by Italy so far in the tournament. Mancini knew that Spain wont use the fullbacks much, coz they can’t pose much threat now a days using their fullbacks and even in all the recent matches alba also has not progressed a lot to overlap or make crosses from that lb position , most probably coz they dont have any aerial threats. The main area where Spain could dominate was the midfield, Busquets has been the key and quite effective in the recent matches, Mancini wanted to cut out any possible progression from the midfield, specifically. Turning off Busquets and maintaining and midfield dominance was key to italy, 5:41, 5:42 , in the 4-4-2 shape, the 2 upfront, (Insigne and Immobile) both were marked to specifically disarm Busquets ! Rest almost everything was covered in the video, this central (cdm) aspect wasn’t covered !! 👍👍

For me, Spain lost because they were too hesitant in the final 3rd. If they are gonna improve on goalscoring, they have to follow the principle "Act, Don't React"

@@BlaugranaEverything dude for me it all about the manager and how he builds around busquets. Of course he can slightly dip in form we’ve seen it but overall his fundamentals in his style never go, he will never lose his understanding of space or his passing skill. So therefore whoever coaches him, if they want to play good football, must make him central and have rotating shifting mids around him

italy was fortunate ???? c'mon, you're joking !! italy won 33 matches in a row !! It's not fortune, it's preparation, mentality, abilitiy. Spain has better players, more experience and in 15 years their game style is the same, of course they know how to do it...but despite all of that possession, in 60/70 minutes they only had 3/4 clear goal occasions, in fact italy had the lead until 10 minutes from the end. During the extra time italy just defended like a beast, they did whatever it takes to go to the penalties. I also want to point it out that The bench of italy has much less quality than the spanish one. Fortune ? c'mon, that is just ridicolous.
