A bit of trivia: Kevin Bacon, John Travolta & one other guy were singers/dancers long before they were in movies or on TV. The three of them lived together in NYC 🗽 & were often cast in Broadway musicals as part of the background chorus parts. Travolta broke out 1st when he was cast in the TV show Welcome Back Kotter. Kevin then went to live with him in California and also started auditioning for parts in ads, TV shows & movies. After they both became well known people were so surprised when Travolta broke out in Saturday Night Fever and Bacon broke out in Footloose! Fans never realized that both were actually song & dance performers! The same with Hugh Jackman & Antonio Banderas.

Asia and BJ...great reaction. Just want to clear up some things you mentioned during the reaction. 1st, the dark-haired lady was Ren's mother, 2nd, Ren and his mother came to town to stay with his aunt and uncle; that man that kept criticizing Ren was his uncle by marriage. And 3rd, that was Kevin doing all the stunts and dancing. Alot of people don't realize that Kevin started out as a gymnast. And the entire soundtrack was put together by Kenny Loggins and he wrote about 75% of the music. Excellent choice to start out with, good job. 😄😄😄😂

Slaughterhouse Five is a novel about a man who can time travel. He remembers much of the bombings in London during WW2. It considered a great work of literature by most. They were living with his mom's sister and and family. That was his uncle that blamed him for everything. In 1987 I was 16 and lived in bars. Never carded until I was 27... it was the 80's.

10:11 Lori Singer is such a beauty,i remember back in the 80s and even during the 90s,i had a way of mixing her and Daryl Hannah up,as they have very similar faces, and both have long blonde hair. Needless to say,i had a soft spot for both. They even look stunning today,if i might say so. 19:52 It always takes me several seconds to realize its Chris Penn (Sean Penns brother) in theese early career movies of his and the others. Im so used to see him after he gained some pounds and rocked some more curly/wavy hair. (Long live his memory,i just remember him passing around 2006) He looks so much taller in this movie too,so it always takes me awhile to recognize the face and the voice. 20:40 Hold the phone! Sarah Jessica Parker with a look like that, always has me like warm butter too.....😍Her cuteness has me thinking of Jennifer Grey ("Baby" in Dirty Dancing) 23:19 John Lithgow,a truly brilliant actor. Funfact: Did you know he had his son with him in this movie? Ian Lithgow played "Bobby Moore" but somehow he shows up as uncredited. The role is small compared to the other roles,so it was probably Ians first ever movie. (To my knowledge anyway) Another funfact,John Laughling who plays as Woody is the same guy you much later on saw as General Peterson in one of the huge Don Simpson Jerry Bruckheimer productions with Michael Bay onboard as the director in The Rock. (I love every single movie that Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer had theyr hands on together, and later on Jerry doing his thing with Don sadly passing away) Speaking of dancing movies,Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer has Flashdance wich has a real nice story, alongside a stunning soundtrack of just pure gold in songs. Don and Jerry had theyr expertise together in action movies, and to me there is noone better! But with Flashdance they decided to take a unexpected turn to show that they truly can make any type of movie. You know they are crazy talented when a guy like me goes on to buy any movie if it has that "A Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckeimer Production" on the cover. They never failed, and neither does Jerry alone. The Rock,Flashdance,Con Air, Beverly Hills Cop,Crimson Tides,Bad Boys,Top Gun,Dangerous Minds.... the list is endless! And everyone became HUGE hits in cinemas and as rental movies, video purchases. 27:46 The bag of douche Chuck aka Jim Youngs, almost a couple of decades later became most known for his role as Detective Mulligan in the several seasons long tv series NYPD Blue. A few funfacts for you, from the movie geek 🤓

The big guy in the shower is Chuck Schodowski. He's an 8th year senior. ;) One of the all-time best "angry dancing" scenes, right up there with "The Breakfast Club". And I would say the soundtrack is considered a "classic". The original soundtrack contained six Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits, three of which reached the Top 10, including two number-one hits, "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins and "Let's Hear It for the Boy" by Deniece Williams. "Almost Paradise", a duet by Ann Wilson of HEART and Mike Reno of LOVERBOY, reached number seven.

If memory serves, this soundtrack was in a battle with Michael Jackson's "Thriller" on the charts and it was an actual battle. This album was THAT popular. Kenny Loggins was like the king of movie theme songs. Another big soundtrack was "Saturday Night Fever" which is mostly BeeGees and it's one of my favorite movies. More serious, better dancing. I hope you guys check it out. I miss that movies don't have big theme songs anymore. I'm not really sure why that happened. I don't know that Chris Penn was that bad of a dancer. He was a great actor but he passed away pretty young. He's Sean Penn's brother. People might remember him later in RESERVOIR DOGS.

Great reaction! I thoroughly enjoyed it and was awesome to reminisce about this with you guys - I forgot how good the soundtrack is! *Fun Fact:* This is loosely based on actual events in the small religious town of Elmore City, Oklahoma that outlawed dancing until 1980 when students convinced the school board to let them have a prom. Yes, Kevin Bacon did MOST of his own dancing, there were a couple acrobatic scenes he had a stunt double, but he did everything else. Oh and BJ - you're absolutely right about the nothing to do in a small town problem. We live in Colorado now, but I grew up in a tiny Maryland town whose only claim to fame is a once-a-year hunting festival THAT THEY CLOSE SCHOOL FOR where folks compete to see who has the best goose call (I'm not joking, you can find "live goose calling championship Easton Maryland" right here on KZbin). My wife grew up in San Diego which is kind of the opposite of that, she's still confused as all hell by it, lol. Cheers.

I was 14 when this came out and developed a crush on Kevin Bacon, lol. The guy he was teaching to dance is the late Christopher Penn, Sean Penn's younger brother. Kenny Loggins was THE movie theme song soundtrack king. Almost Paradise - Ann Wilson of Heart and Mike Reno of Loverboy, Holding Out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler, Let's Hear it for The Boys - Deniese Williams, Bang Your Head - Quiet Riot, Hurt So Good - John Cougar (Mellancamp), Waiting for a Girl Like You -Foreigner, Dancing in the Sheets - Shalimar, and Kenny again with I'm Free. One of THE best soundtracks of the decade for sure. If you haven't reacted to some of these songs yet, you've GOT to now that you've heard snippets of them :).

I am so excited to have been a part of this experience for you. I grew up on this movie and this music. I first saw this at a drive-in movie theatre as a double-feature with Karate Kid. Kevin Bacon is one of the most notable and famous well connected actors (7 degrees of Kevin Bacon) in all of hollywood - but it can be argued that without this movie we wouldn't know Kevin Bacon. The same way Top Gun made Tom Cruise who he is today. The song you loved and sang BJ is Foreigner who you reacted to. I had such a crush on Ariel when I was a teen having seen this. Loved your reaction - it's very much everything your channel has been - experiencing great music, and political oppression vs open-minded perspective and getting out of your comfort zone to see something completely removed from your usual genre and or time-period. Yet once you get in to it, you can't help but love it and admit to it's charm. Great job. Plus this movie has such great energy and vibes for audiences; such a wholesome family-fun movie. You two are gonna have so much fun doing these - and I can tell you're gonna totally kill these! 🙂 I continue to find reasons to love your channel. Ren and his mother moved to town from Chicago at the beginning. The pastor introduced them to his daughter after their first church service. Kevin Bacon's role in National Lampoon's Animal House (1978) was much smaller, not a lead, so it was Footloose that made him famous. Other musically oriented movies to consider: Saturday Night Fever (1977), Flashdance (1984), The Sound of Music (1965), The Wizard of Oz (1939),Urban Cowboy (1980), and Yentl (1983).

This is my second time watching this reaction, and I apologize ... I thought I wrote a post to you before. Anyway, I really love you two 👍😎, and congratulations on your 1st video 🤛✊👊🤜 !!!

I was 11 yrs. old when I saw this in the theater, and I was already in love with dance seeing as that's when MTV was a huge creative pop culture phenomenon that happened. I was a very creative "think outside the box" type of girl, so this was right up my alley. Yes. The soundtrack was a huge hit too. Btw, the boy who was taught how to dance was actor Sean Penn's brother, who passed away some time ago. Also, his girlfriend is played by Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex and the City (Carrie Bradshaw).

Fun reaction, thanks so much. I live in Salt Lake City, just South of here is a town called Lehi. Kevin Bacon's character worked at a mill, the same place the dance was held. It's called Lehi Roller Mills. It's still there, land-marked by this movie. If I remember right, most of the kids at the dance were from Payson High School (also in Utah) and my sister went to college with some of the kids that were extras at the dance. #yesImOld

Saw this at the movie theater with my mom and it’s been one of my favorites ever since!! Great reaction!! You should check out Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swazye and Jennifer Grey it’s another great classic!

Y’all are right about the music…our movies back then almost always had the original band/group which is why they sound so great! So in real life, Deniece Williams sang “Let’s Hear it for the Boy”, and that’s who we hear on the movie and who it is on the soundtrack! Same with Mike Reno & (I forgot the woman’s name) who sang “Almost Paradise”. Nowadays they use knock-off singer’s I think

Try Saturday Night Fever! It brought about the whole disco wave. Or Flashdance. I'd be interested to see your reaction to American Graffiti too. Great reaction to Footloose!

Drinking age was 18 in the 70s and early 80s in most states, with the draft in the 60s the kids said if we are old enough to go to war, (Vietnam) we should be old enough to drink

I loved this reaction, I'm so, so glad you started this channel. Like Stacy said, don't change a thing it was perfect! That was Kevin Bacon doing the dance moves. Did you know he and his older brother have been music artists, the Bacon Brothers since 1995? He has rhythm for sure, they are actually quite good and still tour! You'll have to check out some of their music sometime 😊

I love your first movie reaction. Yes, the sound track to this is great. There is a remake to this movie. To be honest not a bad remake. But it's always the original. Here are more movies to add. Dirty Dancing, Back to the Future, True Lies, Breakfast Club, Major League 1 and 2, Rush and Ford V Ferrari

Loved your reaction to this! 💜 This is one of my top 5 movies of the eighties...and there were a lot of great movies back then! Re: being in the bar in high school part? When I was in high school (graduated in 81) drinking age in our state had just changed to 19 but just across the state line it was still 18 so yeah, we went to a few bars our senior year. (Only about an hour or so drive) Can’t wait to see the next one!

It's actually based on a small town in the south during the 50's or 60's due to rock and roll. The church & town commitee made music and dancing against the law. Crazy eh ? I can't imagine living like that.

That was fun guys 😁 Haven’t seen this movie in forever. Him getting so mad that he just had to go somewhere and dance was so funny to me 😂 If you guys haven’t seen Airplane! then that’s my recommendation. It’s a classic.

loved your reaction to this classic. I grew up in the 80's. This movie was so good with an amazing soundtrack. I've had this soundtrack on cassette, CD, and digital :P My grandfather was a preacher. He used to practice his sermons and record them. He was a great man and a big Football fan :)

1984 was crazy with music,movies,concerts…..the birth of a lot of careers, like Kevin Bacon. This movie made him a star, Kenny Loggins nominated for a Grammy…. For me it was like a cross between Grease and Dirty Dancing. ❤️🎥❤️love ya guys

Back in the 80's, I had a beat-up, old, Forrest Green-colored 1967 Chevy truck that was a former Colorado State Forest Service truck that my dad named "The Green Latrine". I drove it from Denver to Anchorage, Alaska with a broken fuel gauge and with a leaky valve cover gasket on it's 200-cu. inch straight-six engine that blew out a quart or oil for every tank of gas used. Good times... good times... :)

Other 80s flicks. The breakfast Club, risky business, cocktails, any of the revenge of the nerds series. The first one is a must though if you get into those.

Hey guys- watched this cult classic with y’all again-😁 There’s soo many 80’s cult classics and just straight great movies! (Always only originals and not remakes- (They made a re-make of this one but hired professionals to do the dancing.. in this one it was actors with natural skills doing the dancing- Anyway, I’d love to see y’all react to “Urban Cowboy” (with a young and FINE John Travolta!😛 lol) also starring Debra Winger who’s a fantastic actress- I also LOVE “Saturday Night Fever.” IF I HAD to pick.. I’d go within”Urban Cowboy.” Hurts me to say, cuz I love them both about neck in neck- John can dance ANY type of dancing and plays such versatile roles- They’re just raw, realistic movies of how they worked during the week and couldn’t wait til “going out time.” Lol So, 🤞🏼🤞🏼y’all react to “Urban Cowboy.”Another great one is “Officer and a Gentleman “with Richard Gere- I could go on and on as they are endlessly..so I’ll just shut it for now- lol. 🌺💙
