I did pretty close to this exact workout or at least something pretty close based off this video as my warmup for a full year. I'm pretty glad I did. I'm moving on to some kickboxing now, but I'm glad I took the time to work on this one. I just wanted to say thanks and also I recommend this drill, it's a nice relaxing way to build that connection between your feet and head position and it's just another little piece of the puzzle to help you move in a way the other guy can't.

I was doing drills like manny pacquiao, I wanted to get quicker footwork and I guess its been working. I even followed his footsteps up a hill he was at before, and I was training like if I was Manny and if I had crowd around me, at the same spot, lol it was funny!! It actually gave me a lot energy!! Or it just means I've been training good with my trainers and my body can go through alot

Hi JT, love your content. You've inspired me to focus on boxing more seriously and taught me so much. One question regarding this video: I see your feet getting very close together often during your lateral jumps. On the other hand, it is a big no no in boxing, and I think you would agree. Would you say that since it is a relaxed drill it isn't such a concern? Or what should we make of it? (sorry if this has been responded before, there are too many comments to look over all of them!). Thanks!!

I've only been boxing for a couple months, but I always hear people drill in the fact that your feet should never be too close together. Like when doing these side movements... does anyone have any comments about this? Is it a situational thing or maybe something that requires a bit more experience to safely pull off? Thanks in advance! (Also I've learned a ton from you, ty so much!!)
@ipbthunder6 жыл бұрын
The reason people say that is because it is easier to trip yourself or get caught off balance if your feet are too close together.

@iDrummett20407 жыл бұрын
Proper technique practiced repetitively until your body feels natural when ur throwing. There's many different ways u can throw a hook so I'd suggest throwing the most basic, lead hook with ur fist angled 45 degrees parallel to the deck keeping ur elbow behind ur fist. A lot of ppl throw it with their elbow above their fist or below it which causes u to lose power and speed so as long as u keep throwing it properly, after about 10,000 reps (depending on ur current skill level) u should have it down with proper technique so u can add to ur power, speed and accuracy. Also, my coach would have us do burn outs with every strike, so if we were throwing a jab, we'd throw it once, pause, then twice, pause and so on till we hit 10, then count backwards from 10 down to 1. Since I started using that training method, its cut my "muscle memory learning curve" down a great deal, BUT there is no such thing as a short cut to high level skills. Just takes time and effort. Good luck

It's amazing how since I started doing these kind of footwork even my salsa dancing has improved big time. I'm getting all the hot women, man!!

quick question, what are the pros and cons about keeping ur weigh on ur back foot or ur front foot.. personally when my weigh is on my back foot and i throw a cross while i shift on the front foot i feel extremely stable and strong.
@uchiha123madara87 жыл бұрын
StarSG-1 if u throw a cross assuming Ur orthodox there has to be weight on your back foot for power n balance but the weight has to be on your front at the end of the cross to complete the motion , the power is coming from back to front
@exe.m1dn1ght7 жыл бұрын
yes, i keep shifting from back to front, but why some people keep their weigh on the front? what are the benefits from that?
@CrosShame7 жыл бұрын
My gues is that you can easier evade/ keep distance with weight on the front foot . Having weight on back foot it will be easier to performa forward movements.
