What to do when it feels like the moments of your life are passing by. I have felt that way at times in my life, but I have also broken out of this and had very fulfilling times. Here is my advice on how to overcome being stuck.

Hi Dan. I am almost 60 - in July. I have experienced this all of my life. Like you I have also had profoundly meaningful, beautiful, precious years, months, days and moments. I think it's what propelled my into graduate work in psych to help people. I struggle. Helping others always helps! Struggle can be intense. Early trauma changes brain development. Our brains play a role - developmentally. It can play a role in being stuck. I think you are one of the brightest, most generous, kind people making videos and I really value your work. I share it a lot! What a deeply meaningful video! Thank you.

Hey Dan. I love when you do videos like this. It's so important to shake up your life when it needs it. In my late 30s I left the US and moved to Guadalajara, Mexico. No one I knew had left the US to live in another country. But I needed that experience. Eventually I moved to Mexico City. Just before the pandemic hit I was planning my first ever visit to Brazil. Of course that got put on hold. I finally made the trip in April-May 2022. And when I returned I said "It's time to shake things up again." And I started planning my move to São Paulo, which happened in January, 2023. And here I am. Is every day in São Paulo perfect? Nonsense! But, for now, it works for me. We all have our priorities. For my siblings it's owning a home. That has never interested me. For good and bad (mostly good) knowing the world is more important than property and a "steady life". That's my formula. It took a while to discover it. But I'm glad I did.

You are right about having lots of different experiences. I lived in many different countries on different continents and one of my great sources of happiness is memories of people, places good times I had in these different places although the danger is to compare and miss what you don't have but did in other places. If you are the same in real life you must be a great friend to have.

Dan, you would be an incredible best friend to have, because you are ably to talk about what is important in our lives. We all have certain memories that are burned into our brains while others that were there will not even believe you that they ever happened. I took an eleven week long trip to Europe back in the summer of 1982 when we were both 23 years old. I often think about many parts of that trip while it wasn’t as memorable to my friend because his life has been so incredibly busy and stressful since then.

Thanks Dan. Your video came at the right moment. I’ve been having this feeling for the past months, I’m stuck in life not knowing how to get out of this circle. I kind of thought I’m the only one. Glad I came across this video just now, I always enjoy all your videos.

I'm also in that kind of situation due to my own short comings though. I am aware of the issues but its hard to break the cycle. I've recently realized that I need to look for a different perspective and approach to how I do things. And take things step by step 😅

Take a leap do/try/move somewhere you think you will have a better chance of doing what you think you want to do with your life if stuck in life. I've done this several times I was stuck and I do not regret any of those times. They were new and necessary experiences.

I've had way too many bad experiences these past six months and it has resulted in this feeling that life is meaningless and aimless. Feel like I'm slowly working my way out, but it's difficult to stay positive and not feel like I'm just deluding myself.

Have you by any chance just lost your job to AI? Always great to see your videos. There is something vey relaxing and reassuring about the way you speak. I enjoy your company even if it is just on video. Keep making videos Dan!

At the beginning of the video, I thought you were using a green screen, but you weren’t. You look like in 3D and the background seems to be static except for the leaves moving and then the dog approaching you. What type of filter or effect did you use when you were filming this video?

We are put on this earth to enjoy life and find our purpose, meaning talents, etc. We all share the basics in life reason we can communicate to all but the differences will be some, like living in a different country or town, different talents and interests, different friends and spiritual believes, and when we share more in common we relate more. But all things are in constant movement, change, and aging. Even though a person may feel stuck things change like it or not. That is what makes life so interesting. Inner peace is there for all, those who believe in a Creator and prayer, in our spiritual selfs, those who experience near death be it at a car accident or hospital operating room out of body experience they have their stories. The soul units with God's, our minds our spirit, our energy a calm like taking a nap. Folks need not lose hope, always things to do daily, mostly folks are connected one way or another, going to the store or concerts or whatever. No one is really alone, just alive, and the ability to injoy it.🙂🌼
