Beautiful truck ...no doubt. I'm guessing it's an automatic? I'm old school and not looking for automatic. I'm hunting here in Ontario but haven't found what I'm looking for yet....I'm as picky as you so it might take a while. Keep posting your finds and I will keep watching...but my dream truck is a mid roof manual transmission. Where not huge Volvo vans but all options are open. International, Pete and Kenworth are some of my favs...not sure what you can do but will keep watch. Thanks for your time We appreciate it 🙂🙂‼️

Hi Rob, Yes, this is an autoshift truck. Volvo ishift transmission 12 speed. I saw a statistic that since 2010 the trucks coming from the Volvo factory are over 90% autoshifts. That means you are searching for a 1 in a 10 type of transmission. THEN, you are trying to find a nice creampuff truck out of those 1 in 10s. It gets pretty hard as you are finding out. Greg: can you please give a general idea of the cost of the conversion that you usually do to make this an rv hauler? How long will it take to build this unit?

Hi Paul, Every one of my conversions is completely customized to my customer needs. I have conversions which have been left tandem, and we just add the hitch and wiring necessary. I have conversions at the other end of the spectrum which are full of storage, singled, generators, lights, chrome, storage, and can carry a Jeep. I really hesitate to throw out a "general" number. I am pretty good at working with folks' end-goal budgets, and making it happen. My Invitation to You: I am the guy that answers the phone. Hi Bill, Good to hear from you sir! Ahhhhh, I love it when I get questions from another details-guy like me. There are soooooo, many ratios possible in these RVHaulers. I a dream world, I have categorized a "range" of ratios. (my opinion only) . I have driven hundreds of RVHaulers. I have hauled my own rigs over the last 12 years with dozens of RVHaulers, and this is my personal experience talking. BAD - 3.73 FAIR - 3.53 GOOD - 3.36 VERY VERY GOOD - 3.23 / 3.12 DREAMY - 2.85 / 2.74 Here is the key question - what is the REAL difference in mpg between a 3.36 and perhaps the 2.74? Answer - 1.5 MPG. Not alot. Considering the cost of changing the rear end out, I personally would never change a rear end ratio in an average RV towing scenario (unless it is a 3.73 or maybe a 3.53) - it takes many many years to make back your money, and start to save any $.

would like to know what service plan should look like when you have a truck? oil changes breaks checked

Hello and thanks for the question. The cost of maintenance for our Rvhaulers is on par our with the cost per mile of running a pickup truck. Things like a oil change are very comparable with a pickup, particularly when we observe the service intervals are much longer. Things like brakes are an even better value. The brakes will often last over 100,000 miles before serving is needed. Thanks for watching, Gregg

If rust is common on the bottoms of six year old doors that either means the doors are made of cheap ungalvanized steel, or the drains clog too easily

Yes Kevin that is exactly the case. The drains don't fully allow the water put. There is always a little bit left behind next to the hole that has to dry out slowly. Gregg

Disc brakes were a somewhat pricey option to add in this time-frame. Hence, they weren't at all common. I am seeing them more and more in the used market as the years have gone by, because the price of of the option has become more reasonable. They are quite nice, but honestly should not be a sole deciding factor in determining if a candidate truck is worthy of your attention. You are never going to wear out a set of drum brakes in your average RV towing lifetime. Gregg
