Towing a 5th wheel rv on a semi platform adds stress to the 5th wheel. Seen many of them fail. Just get a ding motorbike and tow the jeep like normal person lol. Look at me I’m so extra
@rvhaulers4 күн бұрын
Thanks for your accurate comment! Good point. That is why we install air-ride cushioning hitches on all our RVHaulers. These RVHaulers can transmit stresses to the 5th wheel frame, so we treat them with care by installing the special hitch. Thanks for watching!!! Gregg

Hi greg , have you put a hauler bed with fifth wheel on a single axel day cab? I’m looking to haul a sxs and an escape 5.0 5the wheel.
@rvhaulers9 күн бұрын
Hello John, YES YES, we can absolutely install a bed on a day-cab. It is a completely feasible option. I am going to zero-in on comfort, and performance, and capability as some considerations to add to your list. Comfort - SOMETIMES, the day-cabs are designed as inner-city work horses. They do not have creature comforts, and are quite basic interiors. Simple test - go drive one. Listen to how loud they are. Feel how they ride. Check out the seats. Then, take it up to 105 kms per hour. Then, go for a ride in a sleeper equipped highway tractor. Make your comparison. You will quickly see that SOMETIMES the day-cabs are perhaps something not well suited to full-timing (or even short term) travels. I recommend you test this out before you spend time designing something on that platform. Performance / Capability - Keep an eye on the rear end ratio in day-cabs. In the city, they are great work-horses. Sometimes the day cabs aren't setup for great highway fuel efficiency - and might be running high RPMS. Again, highway tractors are made to handle weights approaching 80,000 lbs. They are designed to be driven at highway speeds. They are over engineered for our needs, yet very capable and fuel efficient. The possible answer - start with a day cab highway tractor that has been setup for highway use, and start your build! Just brainstorming! Thanks for watching my videos! Gregg

As configured currently, is Outlaw still easy enough to title as an RV in SD? I can say that the left side whale tail has room to store a removable short step ladder, something like the kitchen version with the better tread so a short elderly senior could transfer from it to the truck near the upper step. I got to experience that last winter when she fell only to come out of it with a serious upper right arm compound fracture & damaged knees that also were damaged from a 1982 motorcycle accident. But after she transfers over I fold up the step & it goes into the back of our 3/4-ton Chevy girly truck in front of the gooseneck ball, etc. I’ve always loved the idea of the D11 engine since you had the Volvo Rep talk about it, too bad it wasn’t perceived as large enough by many RVers, seems a best compromise for better fuel economy. David & Sheila Knapp PS-The Tampa RV Super-show was great, too little attention was given to how to safely stop our RV trailers though.
@rvhaulers13 күн бұрын
Hello Folks! Outlaw is specifically setup to meet all the South Dakota motorhome requirements. Nothing extra is needed. I'm glad you like the storage. I love to put my lawn chairs, camping tents, and even my smoker in that huge rear storage space. Certainly a stable ladder could be stowed there too. Thanks always for your continued support of my channel. Ggg

Gregg, there seems to be a large capacity difference between the bumper hitch and the other 2 (5er and goose). In your opinion do people not tow heavy bumper loads? We have a 30k torklift bumper pull hitch and the HD 5er and goose hitch of similar capacity for our 550. We then got an HDT and am I correct that it would be uncommon for a 2,600-2,700 pound TW bumper pull RV? This has been our observation .
@rvhaulers13 күн бұрын
That’s a great observation. The heavy-duty bumper pull hitches are often found on trailers that are not as heavy, but we do have some customers with very heavy-duty bumper pull setups! Thanks for the question! We can install larger capacity systems as well. We have even done pintle hitches for even larger equipment trailers. Thanks, Gregg

Hi Michael. We are seeing more and more 5th wheel pin boxes around the 50 to 51 inch height. We always consult with our clients to establish the height. However we will often default to the 51 inch height now. Thanks for the question. Gregg

I always love your videos. I do my RVing (very part time, usually 4-week trips) in a Prius Prime, pretty close to the other end of the spectrum, but for sure if I ever "go big or go home" you would be the first call I make. The car is 183 inches long before counting any hitch protrusions, so it might actually have to be longer than most of the decks you make, if I stuck with bringing it. 4115 GVWR, though the one time I rolled over a closed weigh station scale, I was 4180 with the gas tank around 1/4, and that wasn't the heaviest trip I'd taken.
@rvhaulers8 күн бұрын
Hello There DEFINITELY Efficient RVer! We have the complete flexibility and capacity to add a few inches to accommodate the Prius length. Right now we are building one to handle a 4 door Jeep. Keep watching and you will see a video demonstrating the length needed. It really isn't that much more. Thanks for supporting the channel! Gregg

Greg with the added length of the bed for your jeep , how long can your 5th wheel be and still be legal in Canada .
@rvhaulers16 күн бұрын
Hi Richard, This is GREAT QUESTION for all you folks out there with RVHaulers!!!! How are others doing with their lenghts? Please chime in and comment on this issue. Sadly, every Canadian province and US State has their own length restrictions - and they vary CONSIDERABLY! Some locations even have limitations on the 5th wheel itself (like California is 40 feet). Overall, we are often over those individual lengths even with a 38 foot 5th wheel. There are thousands of folks travelling every day with RVHaulers setups - and the large majority are all over-length - and have no issues. That is not to say that some sharp-eyed highway person might not have issue. Gregg

If one is looking into getting into a HDT, where do we get a smart car? Is it smarter to buy a new HDT or used?
@rvhaulersАй бұрын
Hello Javier, There are still some used smart cars in the market. I have three in stock now. I am always keeping my eye out for nice ones for my clients to consider as options. Regarding new vs used RVHaulers - it depends on your budget! You can stop in at your local HDT dealership, and see what a new one costs vs what a used one is priced at. If you like the idea of factory warranty, picking your options, features and even custom color, a NEW HDT is an attractive option. Thanks for watching! Gregg
