Anyways, I'm an Artist myself, working with ceramics as a medium; I make sculptures and functional pieces. Recently, I got introduced to wood whittling, which is pretty awesome as well! I do paintings, pottery, drawings, I've done glass on glass mosaics and now wood stuff.

Newbie carver here. I'm wondering, why bother with the transfer paper? I've only done a few pieces, but I just glue my different view pictures onto my blank and then start carving away what doesn't belong. Seems much simpler, but maybe someone here can tell me what I'm missing? Is the glue messing up my burrs?

Just do what u please and yes the glue way works good too but myself I like the lines of the transfer paper , nice crisp lines

Wonderful job on your first raccoon. Never would have guessed it was your first time carving one. On the "Nook "pronunciation We here in Pennsylvania USA pronounce it as you would the word Cook just swap the C with the N. It doesn't matter either way, we all say words differently. It just depends on where you are from.
