Nice leaf Matt. Here's a tip I learnt when I went to design school, if you shade the back of the baking paper, then go over your lines it acts like carbon paper and you don't have to redraw line's that don't transfer.

Great tip! Cheers Mark hope your going well.Probs you are recovering from wild winds.

Howdy Matt. Been awhile since I commented. Been busy. I've said in other videos and posts in Woodworking forums on FB I belong too....If I didn't know better, I could almost swear yall people have hidden video cameras in My shop. I'm doing a custom built Garden Bench for an old Fishing buddy...Well, his wife actually. The top of the back rest of the bench, I'm carving his family name and....wouldn't ya know it...."LEAVES AND VINES". Hmmm??? So where'd ya hide your spy camera dude, LOL. 😊 My wife thinks I'm spending too much time on this...as it's been about 2 months now. But, though I've got 40 years of woodworking experience, I've never made a bench. So, loosely speaking, I don't know what I'm doing. This whole bench is mortise and tenon joinery. There are a total of 38 individual parts along with 42 mortise's and 42 tenons that have to be EXACT. So, yeah. It's taking me awhile. Anyways. I'm at the sanding phase and about to start on the carving of that upper back rest part. I've already got my layout drawn on that piece and have been practicing on some scrap wood how I want to go about carving the name, vines and leaves. I've been debating about how much detail I want add to the leaves. Just leave it plain or add some veins n such. 🤔 There's probably a total of 60 leaves, albeit small leaves, bout the size of a nickel. I know adding the detail will look spectacular, BUT, that's ALOT of leaves. So, I'm thinking of just carving the image of the leaves and let shadow do the rest of the work. I dunno yet. So, thanks for making my decision more complex 🙃 🙂 😑 😅 Great Video btw.

Good to know I am complicating things for you. Well it sounds amazing and good luck with all of those leaves. Send me a picture when finished, that would be awesome. 👍

Cheers. The wood is called Salusalu, and it is from Fiji. It has a fine even texture, mostly used for joinery. Cheers for watching 👍
