there is nothing at all that says you can't build your trapper as a bow trapper. or your hunter as a spear and shield specialist. the stats are nearly identical. only the skills differ, so you really are just deciding whether you want a better ambusher or a better sneaker. the rest is mostly niche. you get ambushed fairly rarely, so even counterattack is niche. and traps? there are several ways to deal with traps and they are only seen in dungeons and in less than half of those. not sure why this guy thinks they are common. they aren't. ambushing enemies gives a bonus to speed on them, so you always get to attack first, which can be the difference between taking damage and not taking damage. and you can opt for an ambush on any enemy outside of a dungeon, so that makes it a very VERY common thing.

Hey, what do you think of woodcutter? I find his passive is big but doesn't prick often. Also playing around a iffy aoe attack seems worse than hoping for a steadfast from blacksmith

play the game collect lore books. Spend lore books in the main menu to buy characters.

But the hunter can just use the same items with no problems. You make it sound like you cant.

Totally wrong. Even if the hunter wanted to sacrifice his call shot for a spear and shield he still would better than the trapper. The main thing about the trapper is he has higher talent and is the fastest semi talent class in the game. 1 tip would be he can be a buffer or debuffer for other characters. You could rush your blacksmith to taunt first round etc. Imo built like this the trapper is very viable. Built like you hes just a shitty hunter no offence.
