In this video, Stefan Baumann demonstrates painting Light and shadows and why we don't paint things and why painting effects are what people look for in a work of art is the effects of light and shadows. He also Discusses painting with Luscious Brushstrokes a mothed of applying strokes of paint directly to the canvas ala prima This video is about Touch Move and Inspire. Get a free Book at his website www.StefanBaumann.com. The paintings of Stefan Baumann reveal the true spirit of nature by transporting the viewer to distant lands that have gone unseen and undisturbed. With the huge success of Baumann’s weekly PBS television series “The Grand View: America’s National Parks through the Eyes of an Artist,” millions of people witness for themselves the magic Stefan portrays on canvas, his passion for nature and the American landscape. By distilling his love of nature into a luminous painting of brilliant, saturated color that transcends conventional landscape and wildlife art, Baumann has captured the hearts and imaginations of a generation. Each painting becomes an experience rather than merely a picture - a vivid manifestation of his special and personal union with nature and the outdoor world. Through his mastery of light, color and artful composition, Baumann invites you to experience nature in its purity. It is no wonder that for many years distinguished American collectors, including former presidents and financial icons, have sought out his work.

This was good. When I went to college, I didn't have an art teacher who could really teach it. I once asked one of them if he enjoyed doing his own art. He said to me, "It's just a job." JUST A JOB! So, after 45 years of being away from my art, I'm starting all over again. I'm excited to find Stefan, he's the art teacher everyone should have. He's passionate and he's willing to actuially teach you what you need to know. Good for him!

One thing i like about Stefan is his willingness to share his knowledge and to make you believe in yourself. We all have self doubt, me too but i picked up the courage to show my work to a gallery after one of Stefan's videos and my paintings were accepted which was a great feeling and an amazing feeling when i sold my first one.

Thank you for sharing. I'm self taught for 3 years and have been practicing the light and shadows with some of my pieces. The gallery enjoys my pieces so I must be doing something right. Your video's are awesome and so knowledgable, the best I have found, that I am sharing them with everyone who paints in the gallery.

I went to the Chicago Art Institute this past week and I thought of you went I saw a John Singer Sargant painting. His strokes up close (you would never think the painting would be great until you step back a few yards).

Never go to a national park alone and always bring enough firepower. You never know when a bear, or bigfoot, or some other creature that may or may not be from this timeline/dimension/planet. All those "suicides" aren't always suicides. Lots of people disappear all over the country in national parks, and we don't need the next Rembrandt or Monet to go and get eaten by the swamp thing... (paraphrased from covertdisclosure twitter account/fantastic daily interviews youtube) Stefan - I love your Renaissance attire! I also love you! You rock dude! I have seen many of the videos you keep up on your channel and cannot even begin to describe how much I've learned from doing so. I started painting on accident a little over 2 years ago and have been watching your videos for almost a year now. I don't like to toot my own horn but I'm not bad for as long as I have been going at it. When I can afford it, I will be scheduling some coaching/lessons if you've room and or are still offering that. LOL, sometimes I just wanna call you to ask a question or two... maybe I can ask one that has been plaguing me right now.... Ok, so the more I paint, and learn to paint what I see - the more I notice colors and how they reflect and mix with the environment - the more I see how light catches the things we don't paint - the more shadows dance out of the corners of my eyes - I'm not even sure if I'm describing what I've been experiencing lately properly - in other words - the way the light hits the ocular portals as well as how the brain interprets it seems to be opening up and expanding in ways I'd never knew possible... I SEE THE WORLD DIFFERENTLY NOW... THROUGH THE EYES OF AN ARTIST... or at least a little baby junior noob artist... does this happen to every artist?

art joke of the day: you know your style is too tight when your list of plein air supplies for a single painting includes CAMPING EQUIPMENT ! your videos are very helpful even to a pastel artist like myself.
