Yes, you are right! I have been doing tent camping and now i mostly chose to do car camping and i truly enjoy it to the fullest. I take along my tent and use it if i go spening a day at the beach but still prefer sleeping in my SUV at night. As long as we are out there in nature - sleeping away from home or a hotel room, exploring then we are truly living the camping life. Lots of cycling and hiking too can be added to it along the way.. Enjoy..

I totally agree. I don't particularly like the crowded public campgrounds but if you can find the right spot, you can have a great time car camping. You definitely eat better!

Yeah, we're lucky here in MI to have a lot of little rustic campgrounds that are often empty or nearly so even during peak season.

When I camp in the off season or my primary winter season, I will car camp just as much as going back country. It is great for the amount of extra gear you can carry. I find in the late fall and winter seasons, you don't run into the outdoor party types that you do in the summer. I go camping for the peace and quiet and some R&R. One great tip for car camping is to store you gear in rubbermaid bins. It makes for quick and efficient packing.

At the Michigan Winter Hang we refer to it as "tote camping" cuz everybody has all their gear in rubbermaid bins. :)

You got a new subscriber here. 2017 will be our first experience with car camping in SUV. I would say "camping". We have no equip at all, except our camera and accessories. Just got my first sleeping bag. Self-inflated matress, cooking set and tent will come soon. Nice video. keep posting we are watching. 👍

Great video! I've always wondered why car campers generally restrict themselves to "camp grounds"... Especially overseas... Maybe it's an Australian thing, have never been afraid to drive several miles or kilometers into a remote area of a forest. This was always in 2wd cars.. Along dirt roads and tracks of varying quality and grades. It's surprising where a 2wd can go, when you try.

Thanks Brett. Out West where there is a lot of BLM land free camping is easier than in the heavily populated areas in the eastern half of the US. It would be wonderful to just be able to camp where you please.
