Honestly I really enjoy your videos because you are a normal country boy trying to raise a few cattle and enjoy being outside doing what you like. Some larger farming shows are too worries about sponsors and stuff like that. Keep up the good work.

Yes... I'm SO over the "big channels" and their sponsors, freebies, sweetheart deals, etc. The only one of those I'll even watch anymore is "How Farms Work" and I kinda watch them with a curled lip. I have absolutely NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER in channels that are "look at my new million dollar toys!" and "look how much money we can blow!" type channels. No thanks. It's NOT representative of "normal" farmers; nobody else but some of these bigshot channels are getting free "demo's" for MONTHS or YEARS (they're lucky to get to use something for a few hours or over a weekend) and they're certainly not getting "sweetheart deals" to buy equipment they've been using for free for a couple years at a deeply discounted sweetheart deal price... I mean "good for them" but it's just a fluke because they've got a million subs and views, it's certainly not the case for 99.9% of farmers out there. Don't like sellouts and @ss-kissing for freebies and "sponsorships" either... Not interested in total @ss-grabbery either like whistling diesel or other such BS, doing stupid sh!t for views. None of that kind of crap has EVER impressed me in the slightest... see a lot of that in WHATEVER it is you do, for work or fun. My brother does show truck/car stuff, and there's ALWAYS some guy that spends dozens and dozens of thousands of bucks on something and wants, no DESPERATELY *NEEDS* you to know how much money they blew on it... Same thing in my hobby, rocketry. Sorry but your ability to waste massive amounts of money, whip out a credit card or write a check or take out another mortgage DOES NOT IMPRESS ME... and when you're NOT impressed that type gets positively P!SSED OFF because you're not fawning all over them LOL:) Oh well takes all kinds... Later! OL J R :)

Consistency would be my thoughts, I think KZbin is suppressing the small channels. I'm not sure KZbin is even notifying me but I'm still subscribed and the bell "rung". Happy Thanksgiving to you and the Family!

Maybe Covid related, more sports and other activities are competing with everyone. Politics and religion possibly, most other farming channels I watch avoid commenting, except for One Lonely Farmer and I believe You Tube has acted to lower his channel views. But just be you and be consistant with the videos. 👍Later

Same thing has happened to us. We are not above 1k subscribers yet, but I have noticed the views are odd. Same goes for the shorts for us just wandering if farm channels in general are being side lined because of the self sufficiency part? We have been playing with different key words and tags to see if it makes a difference but nothing yet. In the beginning we grew really fast then all of the sudden it was like a brick wall. May be because im not the most captivating either. I enjoy your vids as well though.

Consistent posting helps- whether it's once a week or every two weeks, try to stay on some sort of schedule. My views are down as well. You can't really look at a video from last year and compare it to this year because the video from last year had a whole year for people to watch. You need to compare something like views in the first 24 hours from year to year as an example. As far as your $$, you should email somebody. Overall I'm not really sure what's going on but it seems like a lot of creators, no matter if they include political or religious content or not, seem to be affected.

I should have specified about looking at last year‘s videos I was comparing them basically from memory using one only farmer as the example because last year I followed him pretty closely and to my knowledge of last year if I remember correctly but in the first few days he would have an average of 40 to 50,000 now you look at them and they’re 19 to 25,000

What would be a better platform
@lukestrawwalker2 жыл бұрын
IMHO monetization was the worst thing to happen to KZbin ever. All it did was turn what was a "hobby" or people putting stuff out that they were actually passionate enough about to go to the trouble to film and edit into a cash machine, and so they crank out whatever will get "views" in order to turn it into a cash machine. Yeah there's a lot more content, and a lot flashier or glitzier content, but most of it is a lot more @ss-grabbery or nonsense or just "cranked out another one to get more views" type stuff. I don't keep track of any of the numbers or anything so I can't intelligently comment either way as to trends in views or subscribers or any of that. I DO know that "the algorithm" and various other YT nonsense has really screwed with a lot of people's channels, views, subs, etc. OLF has griped about it on many occasions, as well as many others both creators, subs, and casual viewers. Some of it may also be people's "viewing habits"... for instance I kinda get "farm channeled out" and go watch history or other sorts of videos for awhile then come catch up again with my favorite farm channels, and when I find a new farm channel I like I tend to go back and 'binge watch' that channel from the beginning... just caught up on "Boehm Farm" channel from the beginning, and that can take a considerable amount of time. Anyway, my channel has sort of been in limbo because, well, life has really kicked us all around over the last couple years, and things are changing around here, not exactly sure what to yet... Haven't been able to go to Indiana to help the BIL and get better farm videos of field work, did some hay but not much, and my daughter and her boyfriend are both in their junior year of high school and into everything so we're focusing more on what they're doing while the farm stuff is kinda in limbo. I don't do livestock vids because, well, it's boring-- there's plenty of that out on YT already and much better stuff than I could put out (plus I refuse to deal with all the PETA type loonies and their BS). SO I don't have a lot of content-worthy stuff going on right now, and haven't for awhile. From what I've read when the subject has come up on other channels, viewers seem to like 10-20 minute videos (a few like longer some shorter, but that seems to be the "sweet spot" around 15-20 minutes long) and they like consistent new content, usually at least once a week or twice a week. Daily blogs seem to be overkill and tend to be boring, as there's not THAT much of interest usually going on, certainly not enough new and interesting normally to justify a 10-20 minute video, and many folks don't have the time or interest to watch that much content from any one channel on a daily basis. IMHO if you're going to do a daily vlog, keep it to 5-10 minutes at most. If you're doing 3 vids a week, make them 10-15 minutes each, and one or two per week 15-20 minutes or so seems to keep people happy. Course the other thing to realize is, you can't make EVERYBODY happy no matter WHAT you do, so basically do what you want to do and people will either watch or they won't... don't sweat it. All in my experience and IMHO! OL J R :)

Yeah Tik-Tok is a good time killer, just goofing around. Watch it in the car waiting on the wife or kids or on the toilet, that's about it. YT is for more involved vids IMHO; trying to compete with TT with the whole "shorts" thing is kinda dumb IMHO... it's apples and oranges. TT is good at what they do-- quick "throwaway" kind of content, funnies, goofy stuff, SMH type stuff, but YT is better at 'seeing and following along" type content and you can't compress that down to 30 seconds to a minute and have anything worth watching. I see now TT allows up to 5 minute vids for big enough creators... I've watched a few and it's hard to keep my interest that long... either what they're doing should have been done in a minute or two and been done, because stretching it longer becomes repetitive and boring, or I lose interest and move on, OR what they're trying to show or do would really need a nearly 10 minute video like on YT to really do the subject justice... and paring it down to fit the TT even extended time limits makes it feel rushed, shoddy, and incomplete. I think TT should stick to what they do well and YT should stick to what it does well... Later! OL J R: )
