I sit here crying as I listen this beautiful Dottie Rambo song and I think of the decision that Jesus made.... to die on the cross for a worthless sinner like me. I will soon be 71 years old and I, pretty much, wasted the time I was given. I threw it away. I spent it on things that don't matter at all.... not at all. Only Jesus can know the depths of my despair and how much I truly love Him. Were it not for Him I would be too ashamed to ever look into His face. His love.... His love alone makes it possible for me to to fall on His breast when I get home. Thank you Jesus.

I found the song last August and my reaction was the same as yours: I sat sobbing for hours listening to the words over and over, so thankful that my Savior cared enough about me -- just me --- to suffer rejection and pay for crimes he had not done. I am so thankful he hung on that tree, so I will be able to go and join my beautiful wife in Heaven when my race on this earth is run! How I wish I had not wasted so much time on stuff that did not matter to either Eileen or Jesus. I let them both down, but Her and Eileen have forgiven me. That you Lord Jesus!

Sorry, but the Cathedrals were best with all these you mentioned, along with Gerald Wolfe, that's when the Cathedrals were at their very best, of course that's my opinion, but I'm sure many would agree, don't forget Gerald was a major part in Champion of Love, and Homeland, Have you visited heaven lately, Land of the living,,and many other great Cathedrals songs that without Gerald Wolfe, they just wouldnt have been the same, without him, oh and another great Gerald Wolfe song is the great one called, DAY STAR, Gerald Wolfe, wow what a blessing, and to me, this is when the Cathedrals were at their very best

Now I am going through one of the dark periods of life that we speak of, but try not to make too much of, with suffering and loss. And in my search for something to kick myself for, to 'deserve' this, Danny's song here has really touched my heart and made me think. His one earthly reason was me. ...... What is that about? It's true, there is no doubt about it. BUT.......

Never has a song had such an impact on me. I sobbed when I heard the words that I was the one earthly reason. Caused me to contact Danny and we ended up getting our church, Christ The King Anglican Church, and our friends at Living Waters Worship Center -- we are Anglican and they are Pentecostal -- to host him at a concert. His voice is still so beautiful. I encourage you to bring him to your church! His message in song and words is fantastic!

Had Danny come to sing at our revivals (2107 & 2019). Have never met a more anointed singer in my life.. He doesn't just stand up there and sing; he means it with every fiber of his being, and you can tell. I've been blessed to call Danny a personal friend for well over 30 years. He is sweet, kind, funny, and just a blessing to my heart!

Betty and I first met The Cathedrals in 1988 here in Louisiana. We started singing their music along with other groups associated with The Gaithers. Our 17 yrs. Of learning and singing Only To The King, brought us closer to Him by ministering His Love to hurting people. Thank you Cathedrals and Gaither family for your anointed songs that changes lives every day. George, Glen and Roger are in Heaven now. Soon we'll join you to sing to The King face to face with you and others gone before. In Jesus's name. We give Him praise. Charlie and Betty Mock. Chrimson Tied Gospel Singers. For what earthly reason would the heavenly Father send down his Son To suffer rejection and pay for crimes He had not done? For what earthly reason would the Father let Him hang on a tree? I wept with the answer, the one earthly reason was me. Chorus I was the reason, that one earthly reason; I was the guilty, He was the sacrifice; I was the taker, He was the giver, Dying while I go free, That one earthly reason was me. The fairest of angels were not summoned from the throne up in the sky To purchase my pardon and not even the angels could die. The only provision for my freedom was destined to be The sweet Lamb of Glory, and His only reason was me. Chorus I was the reason, that one earthly reason; I was the guilty, He was the sacrifice; I was the taker, He was the giver, Dying while I go free, That one earthly reason was me.

For One Earthly Reason was written for the crusade that Pope John Paul II held in Sao Paulo in the summer of 1985. There are several contributing authors. Someone stole the copyright and changed the title. This is very upsetting to me. I am a devout Catholic and I had a Brazilian great grandmother. I was visiting in Brazil for her funeral at the time the The Pope held this crusade. It was a special privilege to be there.

The song For One Earthly Reason begins in Portuguese. This song starts out with a question for the first verse. Then the answer is given in the second verse. Portuguese philosophers sometimes do that. Also some Latin philosophers and theologians do that. Pope Benedict XVII reasoned like that in quite a few of his writings. The beginning of the question was started by Ralph Bremmer in Portuguese. For what earthly reason. Would The Heavenly Father. was written in Portuguese by Richard Plummer. Send down His Son. was written by me in Portuguese. To suffer rejection. was written in Portuguese by Richard Bremmer. And pay for crimes He had not done? was written written in Portuguese by Guiermo Hernandez. The answer is written in the Wari Indigenous language. For One Earthly Reason. was written by Kathy Bremmer. Would The Father let Him hang on The Tree. was written by Ricardo Bremmer. I wept with the answer. was written by Denise Franchieti. That One Earthly Reason was me! was written by Nari Chai. The chorus goes into some other languages. I was the reason. was written by David Meece in the Buenos Aires Bay Creole. That One Earthly Reason. was written in German by Adolph Hoess. I was the guilty. was written by Steve Green in the Chipangue Indigenous Creole. He was The Sacrifice. was written by Anna Chalupe in the Chalupita Indigenous Indigenous language. I was a taker. was written by Martha Green. He was a giver. was written by Robert Green. The lines written by Martha and Robert Green were written in Spanish. Dying while I go free. was written in Italian by Keri Regalio. The final line was written in Portuguese by Christophe Pinochet. The fairest of angels. was written by Patrick Hagan. Were not sent in from the throne in the sky. was written by Mary Hagan. Patrick and Mary Hagan wrote their lines in Austrian. To purchase my pardon. was written in Austrian by Marie Redenbaker (who was Anastasia in hiding). Not even the angels could die. was written by Orville Redenbaker in Austrian. The only provision for my freedom was destined to be. was written by Gordon Gosh in Armenian. For the Sweet Lamb of Glory. was written in Armenian by Kathy Nelson. And His only reason was me! was written in Armenian by Eric Nelson. And I was the reason. was written in Flemish by Cherie Nelson. That one earthly reason. was written by Bishop Vander Haut of Belgium. I was the guilty. was written in Flemish by Fr. Bill Oulvey. Yes! He was the Sacrifice. was written in Flemish by Fr. Jean Luc Gill. I was a taker. was written in Flemish Fr. Gene Francisco. He was The Giver. was written in Wooloon by Fr. Robert Charlette. Dying while I go free. was written by Cardinal Ratzinger. That one earthly reason was me. was written in Portuguese by Cardinal Kasper. That one earthly reason. was written in Spanish by Jaime Zufal. And His only reason. was written in Portuguese by Robert Zufal. Was me. was written in Italian by Sheri Zufal.

I don't like that Topic was given copyright for all songs written in Portuguese. I had a great grandmother who was Brazilian so I learned Portuguese early but I clearly grew up in the United States. The title of the song was changed from the original title of One Earthly Reason. Also there is a change in wording. The correct translation is: The angels did NOW come down. These mistakes in translation make me very upset!!!
