It was the 1970’s, although I wouldn’t mind if he did have something against it. If they had an agreement to have an open marriage, that’s one thing. But it seems like this open marriage was very one sided and not voluntary on her husbands part.
@shaggysgf9270
@shaggysgf9270 3 жыл бұрын
@@MusaMansu tbh I also wouldn't mind if Columbo was personally against it but he had enough class and professionalism to not get into anybody's business. All he wanted was to solve the case. It sounded a bit like this woman in fact had something against her lifestyle so she blamed all of her thoughts on Columbo to somehow prove herself that she's not in the wrong. I hope you know what I mean.
@MusaMansu
@MusaMansu 3 жыл бұрын
@@shaggysgf9270 I do. When she first throws him out she goes on a rant about him judging her and after she slams the door on him, she starts to cry. I think she was ashamed of what she was doing. She says that she’s worried about him and she probably was to some extent, but she went on a date with her other man while he was kidnapped. She’s in his house with the other guy, spending her husbands money on this other man and her husband faked the kidnapping specifically to get the money to pay the other man to stay away from his wife (and the other man was going to take it). Her husband faked an affair to make her jealous, but the other woman says that he just talked about her. And his uncle killed him in part, because he hated him for humiliating his family by allowing this woman to take all his money and sleep around on him. She probably didn’t want him dead, but her infidelity played a role in leading to his death and she probably inherits his estate and much of his money. If Columbo was judging her for it, I wouldn’t hold it against him. She was a pretty terrible wife.

I feel like a lot of commenters are missing the point of this particular "one more thing." In every interaction with her, she was unashamed and plainspoken to him about her feelings and her relationships with other people, and every other character of the episode has been duplicitous, manipulative, and secretive. I think he realized that he actually respected her for being this way (an "unusual person," as he put it), so he was going to stop bothering her about a husband she had been estranged from. But he also knew from another third party conversation that she was hooking up with someone who was decidedly not honest (the boyfriend here). So he broke them up because he respected her for being the most honest, most real person in this episode, and he felt she deserved better than that gold-digging boyfriend. Just my opinion! This is one of my favorite "one more thing" moments, and I was surprised to see the tone of so many comments here...

@Harvey Norman My older brother did the same thing collecting VHS tapes until he had got up to around 500 of them and he had nowhere left to fit any more in the bedroom we shared when we were still living at home. Some people on the internet demand free uploads of shows like Columbo and others of the time period, whereas if they taken the opportunity to record them from numerous TV reruns over the years and decades, they could have had them already and not have to rely on the charity of others uploading them online for them to view.

Columbus in the 50’s was never more than 10 minutes partly because of programming. There’s hardware and software. The 50’s TVs were mostly hardware and too small so they couldn’t hold longer shows inside them. Nowadays the software programming and larger memory with teamwork allows you to watch all sizes due to the chips and LEDs and Motorola involvement. The circuitry and transistors with programming makes the difference to make an overall racism free product. The primary transistor is the BJT and FET is the modern version of transistor. The types of BJT are NPN and PNP transistors. Dynamism vs placidity. The FET is a unipolar device, which means that it is made using either p-type or n-type material as main substrate. It’s a racist free product. The jury convicted Chowvin on all 3 counts. That should tell you something.
