This is an excellent video overall. The only change I would make is to note that what he called curly dock (also known as yellow dock) is actually broadleaf dock. If you do an image search online then you will see that curly dock has a long lancet leaf with a curly edge, and it has a strong lemony flavor to the leaves. We Cherokees use the roots of the yellow or curly dock to treat stage four syphilis as it penetrates the blood-brain barrier to cleanse it out. But, they need to have been off of all caffeine for at least two weeks, or they will have a major headache for about a week. And, curly dock also has more vitamins an minerals in it than any other plant in this hemisphere with broadleaf dock and red leaf dock running a close second in that respect.

Hi Clifford, I was raised having curly dock called sour dock by some. I knew there were others but never identified any in my part of north Texas. Have you heard it called that? Or is it a different dock? Thanks in advance. 🤠👍

@@ferengiprofiteer9145 Yes, it is sometimes called that due to the sour lemon flavor.

Rumex arcticus: sour dock. Rumen crispus: curly dock. Two different plants. Hope this helps.

I kinda drifted away from KZbin for awhile and couldn't believe how much thinner you looked when I watched this. I hope your weight loss was intentional. Thanks for the video.

Thank you sir. Unfortunately, it is not intentional. There is a reason I have not been making videos for a while. I have cancer. My hope is to be on the trapline once again this winter.

I agree with you about he botanical names. However when i was taught about wild edibles. my mentor didnt really know the common names of the plants she showed me. i had to learn the names of them by myself. as alway 100% id before using any plant. This was a wonderful day with Tim. I learned a lot about snaring for food. Live wild and live free.

Yeah I would give that wild carrot a miss, thats way too close to the poison hemlock, seems like there is also a third plant that looks similar but I forget what it is.

Catch poke salad young, before berries. Pick a lot. It really cooks down. Boil in several changes of water. It makes the best green there is. If you ever see it canned, try it, you'll see.

One thing I have found (on KZbin) is a easy way to harvest scrub or saw palette. Most folks cut the top off and peal it back to find the heart. This way, you just give the exposed heart leaf a good yank and get all you would get the other way. But you can eat it raw on the trail as you go along, or boil up a bunch and add meat to it for a stew. Good either way and filling as you walking the trail. With the masses of palmetto in Florida, you don't need to bring snacks when you go hunting.
