I'm really worried about the current bank crisis. If a bank as big as SVB could fail, I fear for a lot more. I know a friend who is running a high-growth startup, and was badly hit by the bank run. I have pulled out more than $340k from my bank. After all, the FDIC covers only up to$250,000, and the implosion could have bad effect. Looking to invest into the stock market now. Does anyone know how I could go about it?

We underestimate the fact that banks are corporate entities also governed by greed. Since 2020, the banks have been over-leveraging their assets, which was one of the reasons for SVB's implosion. I have never been okay with keeping much money in the bank. I simply invest through my financial advisor, collect my profits, which I then spend.

My wife and I were following this same trajectory. Last two years, I pulled out my money and invested with her wealth manager. Not catching up with her profits over the years, but at least I earn more. Haha.

A few banks overextended themselves and didn't have enough liquidity. They weren't in bad investments like in 2008. This is the best bank buying opportunity of the last decade. I just bought a regional bank etf last week and expect a big rebound in the next month or two.

Maybe! IF you can pick the few biggies that will survive and are "fully liquid" - and had actual risk management - so they could hedge the lowest interest rates (and lowest risk free returns) - ever!

Four banks on the edge of failure inside of a couple of months does not make a banking system failure, in my eyes. The bank failure that I see is the lack of respect toward depositors. The interest rates are abysmally low and only recently coming up here and there. But that is mostly for CDs, long-term things where you can see their anticipating a shortfall in a certain place unless we yet say get a nine month infusion of cash by raising the rates to something more reasonable such going from a tenth of a percent to 3 or 4 full percentage points. So you can watch when the great special rate offer happens to see when they're anticipating a squeeze in their book of business.

The only way to stop the inflation is to restrict the economy. So I don't view the Fed backing off on rate hikes as a good thing. The bailouts are not good either, they are rewarding bad decision and incompetence. By bailing them out it encouraged the same behavior in the future.

The investments that lost value and created the crisis was US Treasuries which are considered the safest investment. The problem was SVB had to sell them at a loss when interest rates rose so quickly.

BTC, gold and silver - FTW!!! End the Fed. End the BIS. End all centralized banks* ! - looks like the centralized banks are ending themselves? - Yes, the FED has a $2 trillion USD "unrealized loss" on their books - before all these shenanigans over the last week or so. * - Void where prohibited. Their schemes will vary. Follow the Yellow-Gold Brick Road to monetary discipline.

Eh usually fiscal policy takes time to work its way through. Even if they stopped now, it's unlikely to undo or level off the effects in the near future. Also they may not wish to stop just yet as inflation (though coming down) is still pretty high. There may be some benefits to having less banks too with the CBDC coming out soon. Still too much money in the system, though when things change they can change fast esp as deleveraging escalates and accelerates...
