The best thing we could possibly do is to have every candidate for Congress and other federal jobs complete an application for federal employment. These people serve on committees that have complete access to classified top secret documents. There is NO reason not to do this immediately. Millions of federal employees have to do this. I watched the live Senate hearings . I was embarrassed for my country...it was so one-sided, allowed Anita Hill to accuse Judge Thomas of the most vile and seamy acts, publicly & without warning. I don't remember how Biden was appointed chairman of the committee, but it certainly wasn't for his decorum or knowledge of rules. I do know it was when I began to actively detest him...and I was still a Democrat!
