Every weekend my grandmother would have me walk the block from her home to her local post office where she worked, to take a full thermos of hot coffee to her Supervisor who worked every weekend. That was back in the days when a child could walk a block without an adult in a large metropolitan city. America was much more innocent back then, and people were much kinder and helpful. They could save $ by properly staffing offices instead of mandatory overtime letter carriers have to work pretty much everyday.
@arrinstonerАй бұрын
Exactly. There is no 8 hour list anymore. It's mandatory overtime every day. The amount of unneccessary overtime USPS pays out is staggering. Easy solution, make every route easy to do in 8 hours. When the carrier finishes the route, they go home. Pay carriers their full 8 even if they finish undertime and go home. This will encourage employees to not goof around and milk the overtime. This will also reduce the number of sick calls. If I'm feeling slightly sick I call off because I know I'm going to have to do a long ass route that isn't timed to 8 and will probably end up being there for 10 hours. If a route is easy to do in 8 and I can go home when I finish, I'll go into work, knock it out in 6 or 7 hours and go home.

The only time I’ve disagreed with Paul. Yeah let’s cut their pay and benefits after most carriers just saw 10-25k pay cuts.

To that senator paul, FOH U do not know the PO. Higher outside contracts is not the answer. Each station should have 1 management 1 supervisor and 2-3 204b’s, if we shortstaffed have them carry mail. They get paid enough. You waist money in management like hell.
@PhillipDeGravesАй бұрын
This is the problem. Management is top heavy. One manager, one supervisor, and 2 to 3, 204b/lead carrier are more than sufficient. They need to make supervisors work down.

They already arent working. Im a rural carrier and been in touch with carriers from a few offices and they die mid route all the time, charge doesnt last for shit, horrible in the snow and they are having problems putting in chargers to some offices because post offices werent built with the assumption EVs would be around in the future. Oh and most of our chargers are already getting stolen just sitting out there waiting to be put in 🤡 Yeah its gonna be a shit show when they pull all LLVs, Metris and ProMasters. Not even the tip of the iceberg for what carriers have to deal with too unfortunately

And when do you suggest technicians be able to work on the vehicles that y’all don’t take care of/ under-report issues until the 30min repair turns into hours of not days of repair? The last thing we need is for technicians to get to stations at 7am only for the vehicle to be loaded up with mail or already gone…

What they need to do is have part-time sorters sort the packages and case the mail at night, and have part-time RCA and CCAs carry the routes in the morning

I wonder how much of the problem with late mail delivery has to do with the ungodly traffic in all of our cities and suburbs in the United States. Suburbs that are already jam-packed are predicted to have another million people by the year 2050, with no discernible improvements planned for transportation systems. Some cities are expected to grow by just under 2 million people by the year 2050.

I have watched my Ebay purchase (mailed by the seller on 12/3) on the usps tracking site go all over the place only to get 40 miles away (arriving late) then it has been in limbo since 12/6. I keep getting you package is in transit and is on it's way for the last 3 business days. This shipment started in GA then to FL on to Houston then to Dallas and last place it was scanned was Fort Worth. It was so close that I would have driven to FTW to get it. Why did it go all over the place? How is this track more efficient? The Ebay seller isn't to blame here but some people would take it out on the seller. I sell too but I'm nervous af sending anything out these days. Why is DeJoy still in this position?

I retired in 2021. I can honestly say I am very proud of the job I did. I worked hard and had the dedication needed to run my office successfully. I was proud to say I worked for the Post Office. It now makes me sick to see the rapid decline of service PMG Dejoy has placed on the USPS since he took office. Having not previously worked for the USPS and having no prior knowledge of its policies, he never should have been placed in this position.

Why hasn't anyone asked for an audit of the Post Office's books to see where the money is going, as well as a look at why Post Office management keeps getting raises and annual bonuses despite continuing losses? @macjane9899Ай бұрын
They need to question him on the MOU what the post office is doing is doing is slave labor theft and abuse. Most of us work 12-15 hours a week and lucky enough to have one day off. You have customers that refuse to properly identify their homes or mailboxes with hurts the accuracy of delivery of packages and mail then will hunt down and yell at you.if that’s not the worst part. We are put in dangerous situations with not only other vehicles, contractors, holiday travelers, people getting off work and wanting to get home? tractor trailers, etc that nearly attempt to kill us on daily basis because they don’t want to be bothered to stop u have seen vehicles willing to be in a head on collision to get around me but also dog danger, in rural areas there is no leash law and 90% of the time people with bad dogs will always have a big package and best believe if you don’t deliver for your own safety they will 100% call you in the next day. This are some of the issues your local postal workers to help them on a daily basis
@jalsup253Ай бұрын
The post office has a management problem. They often have 2 or 3 managers in the same office doing the same job. And I don't know why Congress is pouting about giving the post office $$$. They don't have a problem giving billions to other countries to people that aren't even Americans

Been with the USPS for 33 years. The Post Office is poorly ran. Too many “higher level” jobs where management doesn’t break a sweat. It’s wasteful while in some cases we may be down people to actually handle and deliver the mail. Congress wants to eliminate jobs with pensions. Wish every now and then Congress wouldn’t vote to receive a pay increase for themselves.

Some statements are correct on both sides, but most importantly, FC has shrunk because we have failed to protect it and have it delivered in time. This is what causes our customers to use other means. Taking new employees in without entrance exams, allowing them to become career with benefits, creating an entitled attitude, no real commitment, and a bigger pool of union members that has clogged how we do business at an extra cost, a long with delaying FC mail, has been the worst management decision and action!!!

He worries more about his retirement plan than getting me my meds on time to keep me and other retirees alive. Remember the good old days when if you mail a card to your neighbor in your hometown it never left your hometown and was delivered the next day. Now it has to travel 50 miles away and then return 50 miles back to the hometown post office where if you are lucky it is delivered in the next day or two. It cost you 15 cents and now it cost 50 cents because of in increased in fuel to go that 100 miles. You must not understand the job. You don't work for the United States Postal. You work for the United States Postal Service. UPS will pick up their packages from their home if they want to give the business to them. This is a service that we are supposed to provide, encouraging our customers to use USPS. Your customer can submit an online request the day prior for package pickup that you will receive at your case the next morning. Look into that, it will probably satisfy your customers needs and you will be able to plan for it on the days the customer wants pickups done . Picking up their packages is our job
