It's the same thing they pulled when Ilhan Omar was called out for her statements, they twisted condemning her particular statements to a general condemnation of all statements anyone makes of that kind. It's specifically a way to NOT call out someone in particular for particular actions. And these same folks will then turn around and use that same "corporate" logic to rail against 'systemic' issues as if that means something. Failing to call out the particular instances is a failure to fight the supposed 'systemic' issues also.

You really will see the" true colors of people when they are pressed to do the right thing" Thomas voted against same sex marriage, did he forget years before he married his European wife , a law existed in Virginia sonetime in 1965 or maybe later where it was against the law for " Interracial marriages" Hell the couple even fought that law after they got out of jail, if it weren't for that couple Thomas and his European wife wouldn't be together. So that's another affirmative action he benefited from, He also struck down gun laws , laws I may and to protect children and innocent people. Yes the constitution says you have a right to bare arms, but it doesn't mention anything about automatic weapons. In fact when the 2nd amendment was written the guns of choice were Muskets and Rifles. Some how laws were twisted for the benefit of gun makers who by the way some of the members of congress, judges and senator's are also members and supporters of the NRA, Finally Tupac, if you don't know who he was a rapper. But in one of his songs he states " since a man can't have a baby, he has no right to tell a woman when and where to have one" / or not ( or not are my words). What's next telling woman they can't vote, and then adding " obey" back into the wedding vows? The suggestion of these justices and congress people is to have the baby, get on welfare if you dare (so I can call you lazy and a welfare queen). Instead of staying out of the reproductive business of females. Here's a law they can focus on, it takes 2 people to make a baby if one parent is lax in his or her responsibility the first tine ( other than illness to prevent them from working) sterilize them. OMG i can hear the backlash now for even suggesting such a thing. So again yes you do see the "colors of some folk when they are pressed or not to do so".

don't know if that's how I see it.. I don't think that it's as simplistic, as they seemingly want to portray it.. I also don't think there's a need for a bill, that specific.. it makes me suspicious, of what their agenda is and wonder what the real aspect is.. if it was about racism, they could have made it generalised.. or go over existing rules, laws and legislations, to maybe make it easier to enforce them.. but I think there are some important details, that often are overlooked.. like, it isn't illegal to be a racist and if you can't classify it as hate speech, it could pass under free speech..

That amendment was unanimously approved by voice vote. The second amendment Durban proposed was to remove a paragraph that would require enforcement of a statute currently on the books that prevents protesting in front of a Justice home for purposes of swaying or influencing a vote. That amendment in proceedings subsequent to this recording resulted in a roll call vote in which every Democrat Senator said the wording regarding enforcing the law should be removed. In essence, in 100% party line, the Democrats voted to allow people to put the lives of all Justices' in harms way with absolutely no enforcement of the statute that has been on the books for many years. Time for you to go back and listen again.

@moxie1956 being a news junkie, you're surprisingly not very up to date which is made apparent by your need to use the word "if" to describe Thomas's clearly unethical activities. The only reason he hasn't had to atone for them is the SCOTUS doesn't have to play by the same ethics rules that it enforces on its lower federal courts. There is no if. He was supposed to report financial disclosures that he did not. A billionaire bought his own mother's house so that she could live in it rent-free for god's sake. He even made improvements to it after buying it. That billionaire had business before the court. If you don't see that as unethical, then being a news junkie isn't going to help you. Also regarding the clearly racist statements that were made against Thomas, they were made by a STATE employee (the AG of Minnesota). If the US Senate was going to comment on whatever any state employee was going to say about any SC justice, then it makes sense to condemn anything racist said about any of them. Just because YOU haven't heard anything racist said about KBJ, for instance, doesn't mean it's not highly likely that some state employee somewhere in one of the 50 states said something racist about her. Why is it the US Senate's responsibility to condemn the statements made by a rando state employee somewhere? If they're going to make an amendment condemning some rando non-federal employee saying something racist about Thomas, then they should include condemning all racism stated by anyone. That would actually make more sense. It's a ridiculous amendment for the US Senate (even when I agree the comment was disgustingly racist). The whole point of this is to raise a ridiculous amendment that makes no sense in the context of the Senate to generate sound bites that make Dems look bad.
