yep, the issue comes in with an unintended use. first gun companies made pistols in rifle caliber... often with very long barrels. For example an AK in 5.45x39. with a 10" barrel, firing this 1 handed, heck firing it 2 handed is almost impossible. but by making this a pistol, it get around the "Small barrel rifle" classificaiton. THEN if you add on a faux stock, aka a pistol grip that can be used as a stock, you have an SBR - poor mans AKS-74U rifle with 10 inch barrel and folding or collapsing stock. Simply by changing the name of the stock, into "pistol grip". and trying to say, its not my fault if the end user uses it as a stock instead of a grip. see the issue?

I am a hardcore supporter of the 2nd amendment, and, in fact, I think short barreled rifles should be legal. That being said, it is disingenuous to say that that an AK or AR pistol with a brace isn’t for all practical purposes a short barreled rifle. The braces even look like collapsible rifle stocks, just without ergonomic shoulder pads. And I don’t think there are 40 million one-armed shooters out there. Most people who buy braces do so to get around limitations on short barreled rifles.

@@rvproducts4u yep, i see all of this as a way to get around SBR rules. And while i see a use for SBR's myself... Those uses are limited. the point to these very short carbines, is as a weapon for vehicle crews, to fire from within vehicles. For aircraft crews, in the case of downed aircraft. And for heavy weapons crews to give them a light weapon to use while carrying and working mortar and such. These uses don't really fall into what a civilian needs other then... drive by shootings. Or trying to bring them into area's concealed. Which... is why they were banned in the first place. For civilian uses, at best they might be useful for backpacking, bush planes that have very limited space and weight limits but need to carry a defensive weapon that COULD stop large animals. (SBR AR-15 in 300 blackout for example). even then though they would be underkill for black or brow bears let alone grizzlies.

My stepfather was Army veteran who lost his arm in an explosion. He was an average shooter before he joined the service. He is now 88 years old and uses a pistol brace because he only has one arm. Using a shoulder brace like these you can make more accurate shots quicker because when you shoot a pistol the bullet ignites and pushes the gun back so before you fire again you must move the gun back this is recoil and with the brace you move less. These should be ban for this reason

Couple of issues where this senator is completely wrong: 1: stabilizing braces are NOT banned at all. You just can’t put these on a pistol this turning the pistol into an SBR 2: All SBRs MUST be registered under the NFA. 3: Law abiding gun owners don’t try to circumvent the NFA like they have been for 10 years.

The most obvious being a nuclear bomb or missile. If the wrong person(s) gets ahold of advanced weapons shit can go south very quickly domestically. Take a look at Mexico and the Cartels. The Cartels are better equipped then the Military. Publicly selling advanced weapons to the masses without an extensive vetting process will result in escalation in firepower by criminals/terrorists which would also result in escalation in police equipment in a cycle costing lots of lives and money. Believe me man I am mostly all for the 2nd Amendment but unrestricted access to advanced weapons is no joke. Obviously a pistol brace ban is stupid though. We have to carefully consider what should and should not be restricted and hit that sweet stop while understanding that somebody somewhere is probably going to get killed regardless. Using a shoulder brace like these you can make more accurate shots quicker because when you shoot a pistol the bullet ignites and pushes the gun back so before you fire again you must move the gun back this is recoil and with the brace you move less. These should be ban for this reason
