Forbidden Fruit: The Toyota Century

One of the nicest cars that you can't buy here in the States is the Toyota Century. It's a truly luxurious machine that's been a cherished automotive icon in Japan since 1967. Now in its third generation, the Century boasts V8 hybrid power, a wonderful cabin space, and the tag of being Forbidden Fruit.

Although we can’t get this anywhere else besides Japan, the closest car compare to this is the old Lexus LS600HL. It shares the same platform and powertrain with the current gen century. The 5.0 2UR V8 with the electric motor drives like nothing else in this planet. I can see why Toyota still using the older LS platform to make the new century cause the 4th gen LS rides way better than the current LS500 in terms of comfort. I owned a LS600HL and this platform is truly a masterpiece no wonder Toyota still using this platform into the century.

GM was always in bed with Japanese automakers anyway, they should just beg Toyota to let them rebadge this as a Cadillac Sedan De Ville. It would sell like absolute crazy

Not this version but the previous version can be purchased by a company in Christiansburg Virginia as well as Tennessee called Duncan Imports. Right now they have about 20 of them! The most expensive one is a stretch limousine period of which they have six for sale right now!

Will likely never have the means to afford something like this but I still wish it were available stateside. So much presence and wonderful focus on comfort above all else. Wool interior would be my preference as well!

Actually very cheap for used cars, problem is most (not all) cheap used examples will have some level of damage to the interior or paint and that can be very hard to repair because its not like you can just take the bumper to a paint shop for all 7 layers of paint, I mean you can but its going to cost an arm, a leg, and probably a piece of your soul to pay for it. Same goes for the interior would trim which can be extremely hard to find replacement parts for... Mechanically though its a Toyota, they'll run forever with very moderate maintenance.

The price is actually a bargain compared to which other luxury sedans are in the same range without the durability or refinement of the Century.

I have the USDM version, the LS600hL Executive. It's not the V12 Century, but it's the smoothest thing in the class, even in 2024.

Sells like peanuts around Asia especially Indonesia. Only available in Asia and selected countries. Too luxurious for overpriced average Europe and USA. Toyota Alphard/Vellfire/Lexus LM Are Much Better Than S Class even Better Than Rolls Royce and Bentley especially about Practicality and Reliability. Toyota Indonesia Manufacturing since 1970/1979. Toyota/Lexus/Yamaha/Subaru/Mazda/Daihatsu Are The Real Best ! #ToyotaAlphard2023

It must ride and drive amazingly because the interior is clearly nothing special design wise. Must be hella comfortable. Toyota should bring this to the USA at the same time they bring the Land Cruiser back. If they ever will do so. The problem is not showing up Lexus which is a board room brand with zero heritage.
