But is it possible to play instruments with the pads?

My question two - if this is not the case then this is not a viable option. it will have to be push2 again :) Cant really see why it should not be possible
@milanwulf3 жыл бұрын
@@steffenhenriksen1412 I have a Akai Force now, so I can answer the question: It is unfortunately not possible to play instruments via the Ableton Control integration at the moment. Maybe they decided to not implement it, because the latency over a wireless connection is to bad. However, you easily can connect the midi output port of the force to a midi interface on your computer (or a audio interface with midi ins and outs) and play everything, but I also need to admit that I didn't tested it in the Ableton Control mode (I will do it soon).

I want to use the 8x8 Pads on The Force while controlling Ableton Live! The pads on the force would be a reason to own/use the force, for people who don’t own Push1 or Push2! But it doesn’t work the same way they work! So I spend £1400.00 for a stand-alone / controller that only controls half of what I want to do! Because It no longer is a instrument, While in Live Mode! So I will still need a keyboard/MIDI controller. I spend all that money for a hybrid Standalone Instrument/MIDI Controller that only half controls the DAW! That really don’t seem to make sense! Why would I want to use my standalone unit that can almost fully mimic Ableton Lives DAW functions by itself only to be limited & restricted when in Ableton Live Mode? It becomes a limited Hybrid and will hinder the workflow rather than aid it! In its current state it doesn’t have a useful point to it! The early demos advertised a fully integrated Ableton Live working in the display of the force and the 8x8 pads was able to do what they are able to do in standalone mode and looked to be a joy to use! But this update is not what was promised and advertised! Now it’s some iPad music app like graphic visuals that seems to be adding more confusion rather than a aid to the workflow! The main feature is the 8x8 pads that get made useless when in live mode! This is stupid especially when the touchscreen can handle all the things the 8x8 pads have been locked into doing!

Just got the force and I'm pretty blown away to be honest, It has just about everything I could have wanted in an all in one box to use in conjunction with Ableton. One thing I seem to be missing is the Ability to send midi notes from the force into Ableton clips. In other words I want to use the Force to replace my midi keyboard. It seems that one way to achieve this would be by using Force external midi channels via a Midi interface then into Live, but surely there is a better way? Can this be done from within Live control mode? Thanks in advance
@jimmywheelo4 жыл бұрын
@ I've worked it out! But you're right there is very little information about this. Ok you should see another option in the midi tab of Ableton Live's preferences for the Akai Force. Make sure that the input side of this has Track enabled. Now in the force create a midi track. Go to the midi output settings for that track and in the output choose 'Remote' as the output port and obv set the correct midi channel for output. This worked for me. Let me know if this makes sense and if it worked for you too.

The Touchscreen is like an iPad so there is no need or point to lock & restrict the 8x8pads to doing the functions of the screens limited functions! In fact an iPad can control the playing of instruments while doing all the other functions so it’s not really like an iPad or iPhone or other smart devices! It is restricted as much as it could be so Akai Pro can slowly free up one feature at a time for as long as they can before releasing the Next Model of the Force! This is a big disappointment for me if I knew they was going to make it end up like this I would have sent it back while it was still in its warranty if only I didn’t want it to be a successful update and was trying to keep the faith in the Force and faith in AkaiPro making it work well with the force of a MPC But they are purposely trying to make it a worse product, like as if they are afraid it could be potentially better than the MPC so they are stopping it’s growth. 60 plus pads that could be used to play keys now becomes locked to one set of functions that are already controlled by the touchscreen! The fact they could have made the Force work just like an MPC but with more pads, but instead they change all the functions and restricted many of them And changed the workflow beyond recognition so it doesn’t work as well as the MPC’s and the workflow of the MPC is Iconic so they could have made the Force run the same way only with 8x8 Pads inviting 8x8 plus possibilities but it don’t have that workflow! It has a brand new limited workflow built from the engine of the MPC but made to be weaker and not as fun to use! And I’m sure the update for the MPC’s allow pads to be used for MIDI Control. So the Force is purposely made to be restricted/limited. Why when the Force was the only one out of the two/three devices known to be getting fully integrated Ableton Live DAW control but is the only one out of the 3 devices that doesn’t have it or it is the one that has been given the most restrictions out of the lot! Even though the MPC’s wasn’t planned to be getting the feature it is been given more than the Force! This proof that Akai Pro don’t want to make the force a success

I think your catching feelings for Akai Pro or you’re defending the Force as if you feel like I offended you so you are calling my thoughts & opinions “bullshit” I would have probably responded to you differently if I saw this a year ago!👀 However, as you took the time out to read my comment & you obviously didn’t spend around £1500.00 for the Akai Force like I did only to find it wasn’t what they advertised it to be and the functionality was less than originally claimed to do the Ableton integration is weak not fully integrated at all a cheap MIDI Controller can basically almost fully control Ableton Live & the Force was the price I mentioned when it came out and it doesn’t have MIDI Control & it has only just implemented MIDI Mapping over 7months ago and the updates & marketing has basically stopped & the MPC Series’s is doing Ableton integration adverts with no mention of the Force as if the Force don’t exist with the same functionality even though it was promised to be a Force functionality! I personally think that if a company has a Ableton like Device that is supposedly a Standalone Ableton like DAW that isn’t mentioned when advertising Ableton Live Control for MPC’s but the fact that the Akai Force don’t get mentioned alongside the MPC’s is worrying because the Force should be at least mentioned as a Akai Pro product that also shares the same functionality’s plus is newer than the MPC brand so the perfect opportunity to get more interest in the Akai Force would be to mention it alongside the MPC’s as an Member of the Family but the fact they haven’t Marketed the Force with the same energy as the MPC’s they get a retro makeover and new range not that I want a new model Force to come out I would prefer Akai Pro to focus on the Force as much to make it work better and make a Force Software Program to compliment the Hardware and allow it to work as a Plug-in inside any DAW because the Ableton integration isn’t there yet still!👀 There was two updates since this video and the improvements are there but not nothing that wasn’t already there when the Akai Force was advertised over 2yrs& almost 3yrs ago and updates have stopped and promotions have stopped for the Force so it doesn’t get its own Force Expansions or Software & they released a free MPC Beats software it also gets its own expansions but the Force has to share the MPC’s Expansions yes they are the full expansions but the point is the Force was Expensive and the Forces functions get shared with MPC’s the individuality’s only apply to the MPC while the Force doesn’t even get a mention when it comes to advertising Ableton Control and integration functionality that was first promoted as an Akai Force feature!

I’ve had an unanswered ticket logged for 6 weeks and no response! Disappointing very close to selling my force. Pablo Malatesta You can export session stems and open them in Ableton. Then you just drag the sessions into the arranger view or record a performance. Midi file import would be nice as well as multi-track recording over USB. I’m not a fan of this song mode idea though, and I still don’t understand why people want to use the Force multi-timbraly from an external device, instead of actually using the Force. Don’t buy a Force for that, you really want a Jupiter XM or a MODX.

@@digitaldiezel5870 Hi. 1: i mean stems as recording a full performance in tracks, muting an changing things on the fly, not clips It should be internal stems export or at least 8track multitrack USB out. Today, i cannot récord multitrack my performance 2: multitimbrality is not for using It as a module, for example, i have a keyboard connected, and i cannot play one instrument on It and at the same time another on the pads (an arpeggio f.e.)It is crucial for live performances. It should be EASY to implement

You guys, you always could create songs in Force just structure you’re bars and make edits and automate in Force using standalone mode this update should make the work flo easier With automation and using the scenes I creatively think of Force as a Push 2.5 I never owned a piece of akai hardware I’m so excited about this can’t wait to get home may The FORCE work well within my Dopeness!

I make a ton of music with my Force, and there are work arounds. But this is a huge Fuck You from Akai to all the people who purchased this with arrange mode promised. Arrange Mode has been working in beta for months according to testers. Now we see the price of the Force plummeting in stores, and it does not bode well. I’ve tried applying for beta twice and they won’t invite me, and others in the same position have contacted support for help getting in and they won’t do anything. They say have a great day instead, something you tell people when what you mean is go fuck your self.

@davidsteffens39525 жыл бұрын
William Extra you can’t do what you can with Push 2. You can’t do note mode or control drum racks or any midi stuff like that. Just clips and mixer.
