Unless I'm very much mistaken, the guy on the hero team with the appalling blond wig and dubious facial hair is a rather poorly-disguised Richard Norton, noted for playing (usually) the bad guy in a bunch of HK movies, often opposite Cynthia Rothrock. This probably explains why he appears to be moving about twice as fast as everyone else in most of the fight scenes.

This movie is distinct from the 1975 TV movie Force Five, which I suspect was Tarantino's original inspiration for Fox Force Five, though he may also have been invoking the very short-lived show Code Name Foxfire. Like Fox Force Five, Force Five (1975) was likewise a pilot that never led to a show.

Nice touch with the Street Fighter t-shirt. For those who don't know: the character of Ken Masters from the Street Fighter video games, is inspired by the late Joe Lewis, who plays Martin here. The guy is an absolute legend in the martial arts scene, a Marine who was trained in Okinawan Karate, he was a pioneer of full-contact Karate & Kickboxing, one of the most successful competitive fighters in both disciplines, used to train with Bruce Lee and he even beat Chuck Norris in a Karate match, with whom he had a rivalry going on. His movie career on the other hand was less successful. And if he wasn't enough, they also got Benny ''The Jet'' Urquidez in the movie. Another legendary full-contact Kickboxing fighter, who you may know from Jackie Chan's ''Wheels on Meals'' & ''Dragons Forever". He's also a successful stunt coordinator/ fight choreographer, who trained Patrick Swayze for Roadhouse & worked on Sam Raimi's Spiderman movies.

My friend and I kept using the THANK GOD FOR BLACK N DECKER line 😁

I don't recall if you've ever done any Avi Nesher films, but an interesting low budget action move that has good, if cheap, action is TIMEBOMB (1991, I think). It stars Michael Biehn and has more of a "Roger Corman" vibe like the original TERMINATOR than T2 or ALIENS.

Everyone except the lady, was an actual world champion in their respective art and/or kickboxing. Actual real tough guys. This, and The Jaguar Lives with Chris Lee were meant to be vehicles to push Lewis to stardom. Didn't work. He was still a legit bad mofo. A prodigy under Bruce Lee in fact. This film in particular was made merely to showcase everyone's ability. Unfortunately, Robert Clouse wasn't that great of a director.

"What are your favorite cinematic cults?" The serious film about cults that I found somewhat disturbing is the 1981 Canadian film "Ticket to Heaven," which covers recruitment, indoctrination, and deprogramming. Looking back on it, the film has a really interesting cast. Also, doesn't the Death Maze final battle remind you of the (much better) climactic fight in the hall of mirrors from "Enter the Dragon" (1973)? (Incidentally, in his book, "The Making of Enter the Dragon," Robert Clouse, the film's director, maintained that he had not stolen the idea for the hall of mirrors segment from Orson Welles' "The Lady from Shanghai" [1947], as he had never seen that film.)
