When I saw them blow a door lock off at the 8:23 mark, in addition to all sky diving, scuba diving, and shooting earlier in the video, I was sold and have further committed myself to being either a recon marine or force recon marine. Those jobs do a lot of cool shit in a relatively short amount of time in my opinion.

so is there a difference between force recon and recon because i was told there was. Also if there is a difference how do you become force recon compared to just ordinary recon. Thank you for replaying if you did.
@jayklink8513 жыл бұрын
That's a good question, I heard I guy talk about his time in 'Recon', but apparently he was Force. Full disclosure, I am certainly no authority, I've never served in the military. So, what I heard is that there is some training overlap between them. Force however, may do more direct action training, under water stuff and jumping out of planes, but again take what I say with several grains of salt. As far as the missions, Force may work for a the Marine Expeditionary Unit where as Recon works for a particular division , I think. But again I could be completely wrong, this is what someone told me when I asked the question.
@paddypace3 жыл бұрын
The primary difference between Division and Force Recon is distance and their employer. Division or Battalion Recon stays nearer the conventional units they're advancing for, serving the Division command. Force advances deeper behind enemy lines in support of the MAGTF. Both are trained similarly and possess special ops skill sets and special insertion capabilities. Force is more likely to get direct action tasks due to their deeper role. Both are "Recon," but their scope differs. Currently, Force serves as a company within the Recon battalions.
@msfkmsfk2 жыл бұрын
Another reason why I like Recon Marines a little bit over Navy EOD is because in Navy EOD you will probably have to do a lot of super deep dives, which can sometimes be cool but if I do a super deep dive I would like to do it with a submarine and at least one other diver close by for support. However Recon Marines don't seem to have to dive so deep and that's something more interesting for me.
@offspringfan1288 Жыл бұрын
Navy EOD actually sees combat. They augment with other units and go into harms way. Recon hikes for 20 miles and takes a few photos and hikes back. Nothing high speed about them.

what sort of standards should i be meeting in order to pass training for force recon i am already swimming 3-4 times a week rucking 2-3 times a month and strength training in between for the last two months. what else should i do to guarantee passing and becoming one.

Ever since 24 February 2006AD, at Stone Bay, MCB Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, when Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command ( MARSOC) stood up formally as The United States Marine Corps SOF Asset, Force Reconnaissance Company and Battalion Reconnaissance has not been in the limelight as much, however, do not get it all twisted, Force and Battalion Recon is still a lethal Special Operations Capable asset inThe Marine Corps. mwnciboo What, overrated and mass produced? Their budget and missions are the only qualities any Recon Marine would desire to have.
@mwnciboo4 жыл бұрын
@@bricksteele7806 So if you upped force recon's Budget they would be a tier 1 Special forces outfit? Nah sorry, not buying that - Force Recon are excellent but conflating them with the capabilities of other top tier units in the US Orbat is at best wishful thinking, and at worst plain wrong. Special Operations Capable does not make them Special forces, hence why they don't come under SOCOM. For Littoral Ops, Force Recon are up there with other specialist marine raiding/ recon/ manouevre units, like the Royal Marine Commandos etc. Not decrying their skills, quality or professionalism, i am pretty sure most Recon Marines would likely be able transfer into any SF Unit in SOCOM, but at the moment they fill a capability requirement for the USN and USMC. Marine RAIDERS now those guys are closer to TIER 1 / are actually more Black OPs vs Green OPs focused.

Learn your history. In Vietnam, MACV-SOG was a joint SOF unit that included SF and Recon amongst others. FR often served at SF FOBs as their special recon element. Long range and special reconnaissance is a spec ops skill set. FR helped write the book on special operations, especially on matters of insertion and extraction (see USMC Test Unit in the 50s). Special Ops Capable does not detract from FR as operators, but was rather the doctrine of the Marines, who elected to keep Recon wholly in house instead of leasing them to SOCOM in '87. As for tier one, that's primarily a JSOC theme and is not a descriptor of spec ops in general. Mission sets dictate such designation.
