My career mode: - Finally saved up enough to buy my own helicopter. - Took out the cheapest insurance with no crash coverage. - Upon first take off, I hit a button on my cyclic, the helicopter’s pitches up, ends up upside down and I crash. - Bye bye hard earned 20k.

Go through the grind at the start, its worth it (though I never thought I'd fly the Cessna 172 that much...). Bugs got way better allready and once you've unlocked most it's great fun since it gives you a good purpose to fly and esp. the Rescue missions give the sim a nice twist.

VFR and Dead Reckoning are part of the Commercial Pilot license exam, the Private Pilot license is meant to be super easy so everyone can get started in career mode.

I've been in Career Mode on MSFS2020 for quite a while. I am part of the internal mail service in the RAF, ( Not BFPO, that it for mail going out and coming in from Royal Mail ) using the IRIS Grob 115. Pilot Officer Pevenhull. Surprisingly, St Athan is the only field in my area that didn't have ATC. So I added it with SDK. Based at Cosford, like my late uncle.

I've been going through the career mode. Definitely very basic knowledge needed. I think the most frustrating thing I have run into is that the AI put a 60' tree right at the end of the runway on my return flight. I thought, "well, maybe I don't have to fly around it" NOPE. crash. And, it took points away from me!! Not cool. LOL.

Career is a bit of love hate for me. personally I really do like to have a purpose for flying (used to love FSPassengers back in the day). Love the addition of the feature is msfs 24, but not so much on how it's been implemented. To be fair it's given me a few hours if fun, but definitely tailored towards new comers to the sim, wish there was an option for more difficulty for veterans of flight sim.. maybe something for the future who knows, would be greatly welcomed. Glad you've taken the plunge and shared your experience mate, was good to get your perspective 👍

I completed the PPL as a complete noob to MFS. It was even pretty easy for me but I get them wanting it not to be intimidating for player rention, but I totally understand wanting it to be more accurate to the point that someone getting a PPL irl can use it as a serious guide. It does seem to ramp up a bit after but I haven't played in a week or so as I'm waiting for more patches. Def would be interested in seeing you progress through the career mode though.

Career mode would be cool if it was actually similarly difficult to getting your actual ratings. I don't know squat about a G1000 outside of setting the auto pilot and I aced my ifr rating, just by following the marker in the upper left

Ive heard there are still bugs in the career mode, so i might leave it for a while. I would definitely watch if you get more involved in it. As you have heen in the meta quest 3, have you tried the new windows 11 remote desktop. I set up 3 screen in MSFS 2024 with left/middle and right views. It was a bit choppy at times as it is being streamed, but its worth ago. Might make a good video for you. Cheers

I find if I switch to VR controls then I can go straight back to mouse after and it works again. I don't have to use the wands except for that reason.

Almost everything is broken in career mode. Its actually quite embaressing for them really when they have put it out in this state... Nightmare in vr aswell. Fps seems way down compared to free flight. Still enjoying it for the most part!

I think Flight sim 2029 will tidy up the learning procedure...I can see a collaboration with Cessna Pilot Canter, Jeppesen and Flight safety. Great for ab initio pilots

I just got the Quest 3 last week, and after getting over the initial “wow” as a first time VR user, I really am not impressed. How anyone can call this “sharp enough” is beyond me. And I am using VDXR on ultra, 200/200 mbps, with medium-high fs2024 settings (especially for textures etc.). I can literally see the horizontal space between pixels (in fs2024 but also native quest 3 apps). VR is a great experience, but this graphics quality level is a downer. I think the quality of the visuals in this video look much better on my PC monitors, as compared to actual in-game flying with the Quest 3. It really is a big difference imho.

Currently Virtual Desktop isn't working for me, and am I right that the new HDMI link doesn't allow me to fly in VR but only see in 2D. I'm still very much a beginner and trying to get flying well.

I watched but why get throttles before a yoke. If you get a chance, the honeycomb setup is 100% worth it. Especially for KZbin content.

VR recording. It's not easy. Remember, I am talking with a thing on my face and my face moves when I talk. In the headset, it's buttery smooth. Unless of course, when it stutters occasionally because of recording (which I mentioned in the video if you noticed). Ta for watching.

I had to totally deactivate openxr toolkit and for now, no crash at all 😥 I hope they will implement FFR asap and DFR soon so we can manage all our VR optimisation inside msfs.
