Ryan Gosling getting hurt is too hilarious 😅 The noises he makes when Crowe breaks his arm 🤣🤣🤣 He captures a classic slapstick vibe as he bumbles his way through the movie that is 🤌

You're definitely right about Ryan Gosling's comedy chops, but when I think of some of his other great roles (including the protagonist in Drive and the musician in La La Land), the word that comes to mind is versatile.

So many people love to say Hollywood doesn't make enough original movies these days, but then a great original movie like "The Nice Guys" comes along and they all decide they're too good for it. This is why this film is so criminally underrated. It deserves a sequel so bad!

Ryan Gosling stammering when he finds the dead body (an uncredited cameo by Robert Downey Jr.) is an homage to classic movie comedy team Abbott and Costello (BTW you should consider watching "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein" for Halloween), and the punch combination Russell Crowe uses in his fight with Keith David is an homage to Russell Crowe's climactic fight with Joaquin Phoenix in "Gladiator."

While a sequel hasn't come to fruition (yet, fingers crossed) there were very early talks about what a sequel would look like and, according to Russell Crowe, it would've been titled "The Nice Guys: Mexican Detectives".

Gosling stopped smoking after this movie because he had to light up every time the filming started, he didn't even want to see another cigarette. He suggested to quit just smoke one right after another until you can't stand it.

I love this movie almost as much as I love "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" (also by Shane Black), which is just more of the same, really, but it came out in 2005. Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer in the lead roles. HEAVY recommend!!

So many mistakes in this badly made movie. It's set in 1977, yet half the soundtrack and music is from 1978, 1979 and beyond. There's a shot of Sunset Blvd showing a billboard of Jaws II, this wasn't released until 1978 - Research, research, research you idiot filmmakers...then you might get it right!
