I'm going to paraphrase a quote from Farseer Taldeer: "You can never truly ambush a Royal Marine, only confirm their suspicions"

You simply don’t survive a well executed ambush. The SOP is to fight through and hope you’re aggression and momentum is sufficient . I ambushed a COY of Rangers whilst attached to the USMC during an exercise to ascertain worth of aforementioned units in leu of proposed cuts in their defence budget. We were an eight man section of Royal Marines (40 CDO, A Coy) and during a recce patrol had to take cover on a bank of high ground above a track that the Rangers were moving on. The last man spotted movement and as he further investigated we opened up and took out the whole Coy as they willingly and tragically entered into our snap ambush. A few slick mag changes later and the umpires had credited us with over 40 confirmed kills. As we patrolled back through our shared harbour position a USMC Major took off his Stetson and uttered the words “God damn you Royal Marines” Pantomime season had began in the cearribiean.

Without watching this video I know the answer to this question. Any enemy that ambushes a royal marine unit will meet their sudden demise! That is the only answer there is. And may God have mercy on their souls! Cheers from your brothers in the USA!

IGNITED STORM I don’t think so buddy. Not unless they are cooking up a storm and wearing high visibility work wear. Water ways are incredibly dangerous to travel down in war time. That’s why they go super fast. Have a look at the patrol boats in Vietnam.

I see from some of the comments here an affirmation of my first impression, that it would be unwise to stop your boat in front of an ambush. In this sitting duck response, the enemy would have a field day after disabling the first boat with RPGs. And having a hovercraft, which is an exceptionally vulnerable craft, attempt to rescue survivors in front of this hell on water, would turn out to be a lesson the Royal Marines would not have to learn twice.

Ok I dont ride around in boats since I am a cav, but why stop in front of an ambush? We ride CV90, much similar to your Warrior and we would not stop in front of an ambush but get away, then land troops for a counter attack. Is this tactic real or just made up for TV? We would not run, but use the time to attack from two angles, this stuff just looks too dangerous. BTW I am a Norwegian so I wish these blokes a warm welcome, that is the only warm thing they will get if they come during the winter.

I sometimes wonder if the British Military high command learned the lessons of the Falklands war - the shameful lack of speedy deployment - that crucial logistical dynamic of getting troops from ship to shore? As an ex merchant mariner, and fortunate to have left my ship only weeks before it was commandeered by the British Government; and, sent with the task force. I still feel pained watching the news-reel shots of the 'St Galahad' going up in flames, and the the thought of 80 odd men sacrificed needlessly. All because of the unconcern and arrogance of regimental senior officers who should have known better. The British squaddie is up there among the best - but for all his training and dedication - only as effective as those in command.

We have a small army but probably the most professional one, however that was the case before the great war, by all accounts our boys were as good if not better than anything the Germans had, unfortunately due to lack of numbers most had perished by 1915,

By all means let's have the US marine corps and the Royal Marines along side each other BUT please train the USMC guys not to talk so much and so loud. I notice that 1952 equipment differ so much from 1991 onwards kit. GO Go Per Mare Per Terram

You could do better ... TEST THEIR METTLE... SHOOT AT THEIR TIRES !! OH WAIT,.... I GUESS THEY MIGHT BE OFFENDED.... AND BE MORE ACCURATE, TENACIOUS, HAVE MORE STAMINA, AND BACKUP. You should just watch calmly.

Not like they are showing anything top secret lol. Basic military strategy that anyone with any combat training or battle experience would know. That was a cute comment though ☺️

Veldtian1 - In that case the Royal Marines take casualties. They would have to be quick and call in air support that would hopefully be on standby.
