Despite his fate, he admired the German troops and stated that he was happy that 'they would be on our side next time round'. He would have been delighted with these recent developments. No more war between European nations. Given these formal alliances, your argument is an illogical one.

What is so horrifying is how small our contribution is compared to what it was and what it ought to be. We are not nearly strong enough given the threat from Russia. Our 250 tanks are not nearly enough? In the case of battle losses what replacements have? None! Do we really expect to fight a war without losses?
@Bobbybulsara17911 ай бұрын
Our role wouldn’t be supplying tanks. That’s why we only have that many. Our contribution would be as part of a coalition. For example Poland has a large land army, we have sea and air power, etc
@robertmiller129911 ай бұрын
@@Bobbybulsara179 The trouble is that we don’t have much of anything. Our forces have been hollowed out and we have no capacity to sustain the serious losses which the Ukraine war has demonstrated are all too likely in modern war. For safety of our homeland we need much much larger armed forces of all kinds which can sustain serious losses. That we do not have at present. And our European NSTO allies are the same. And what happens if there is a crisis in the Falklands or Northern Ireland just when we have to commit our forces to fighting in Eastern Europe?

@@robertmiller1299 I agree with you, to and extend. Britain needs to be able to fight a war on it's own because NATO isn't going to help when something happens to it's overseas territories. But I wouldn't worry about Europe. Even if you exclude the US, the European part of Nato spends around 400 billion dollars on military and has over 1.5 million active military personel, around 7000 tanks (and unlike Russia we don't count every rusting carcass of a tank on our scrap yards towards that number) , 9 carriers, 100+ frigattes and idk how many jet fighters (too lazy to add up all the numbers from wikipedia) but Germany, Britain and France each have around 180 jet fighters, the US currently has around 200 more stationed in Europe and can ship countries worth of fighters here in a matter of days. And that's in peace time. Now imagines us spending 6% of GDP like Russia Russias army didn't look much different before the war than ours does now. As I said, they just counted every wreck they had stored somewhere towards their vehicle fleet. Their actuall army was much smaller but now it has ballooned as every army would during war time.

Interoperability with allies has always been a cornerstone between Nato members since it's inception. The EU & it's fan club has denied for decades it had any military ambitions, crazy talk, myth, a fantasy shared by Eurosceptics the EU is an economic & political project or so we were told. Well what a surprise another lie, the EU has come out the shadows it wants to be a miliary power. For years behind the curtains it has been making moves, setting up the legal frameworks, command structures & military-strategic headquarters in Brussels all ready to take control of national forces under it's unified command. Already it has EU battle group's & only a few months back it held it's first live military exercise with a fully-fledged military deployment force involving thousands of troops, jets, ships, an effort to show the world it's now a serious military power in it's own right.
