Ford 10R80 part 1/5 Introduction

I dont know who you are you crazy man but you just saved me thousands of dollars on having some company build a 10R80. Between your video and the others available, and what's I've done in the past, I wouldn't think twice about doing this.

The "80" in the 10R80 designation is for the transmission's '800 newton-meters' torque rating.

Do you know what changes/upgrades were introduced for the Mach 1 Mustang? Ford quotes an "upgraded torque converter" and different calibration.

I have ford expidition 2019 limited. I want to know the normal operation temperature of the transmision. even the dealer don't know about it. And the answer is not included in the Owner manual. Why there is no specefic answer about the maximum normal temperature of this transmission?

Do you even have a trans dipstick? I loved my 08 Explorer, but i couldn't check the trans fluid so i got rid of it. I like to know if I have trans fluid before i drive 500 miles. I wonder how you check the 10 speed.

I suspect the 80 is means 800 newton meters which is about 590 ft lbs and sounds pretty much like the factory limit.

I can confirm that the limit of the 10r80 is a max of 600hp , 600ftlb . I have a 2018 5.0 F150 that's turbo charged , it's about 750hp , 700ftlb and my 10r80 is slipping only 3mths after the increase in power. So yea those limits are about rite

​@@thegamehud8214you return the transmission? If you don't increase the line pressures then the clutches won't hold when you increase the power... Not that tuning it will necessarily make it more capable, but it's possible. Obviously you can build the trans. New friction discs and steels, etc etc.

Being an instructor, it is surprising to me that you use the term "Ft/lb" rather than the proper term "Lb/ft." which is the standard engineering term. Torque is dined as force * distance(lb/ft) and work is distance * force(ft/lb)
