This video was really helpful, just got done driving home with a new triton, all gears except maby 4th have a bit of a whirrr/grind except 5th which sounds like the gearbox wants to explode 👀 Normally I’d be a bit more worried but I’ve got another triton at home with a health gearbox but a sick motor so I’ll make somthing work 😅 but ideally if I can get away with new bearings, I’ll just do that

This is actually absolutely wrong. There should be VERY LITTLE if ANY grease in the bell housing. Because the clutch dust will mix with any grease and cause it to increase wear/friction! It's like a clutch dust magnet.

I get it in all geers even when I put it on neutral I still hear a slight Radel . I already replaced all of my wheel bearings and my CV joints.

Hello Sr., do you know when is necessary replace gear bearings?, They are not easy to find in Chile, symptoms: a lot of smashed metal in drain and filling magnet plugs and noisy manual transmission, three shaft bearings in bad conditions (I'm replacing all of them, 6 total), many thanks for your comments!!!

Thanks for sharing that tip!! Was wondering about that since I have a very rusted lateral link and I need to do a toe in alignment at the rear. This would be my first attempt at this.

Sent the van to the wrecking yard. It needed an engine. Customer did not want to put big money into such an old vehicle

So, if there's a whine in operation / in gear, that goes AWAY when i depress the clutch pedal (and when coasting in neutral), it's likely to be the output shaft bearing ? (is that the rear main bearing?). Would it be a surprise if it happened AFTER the rear main bearing was replaced (I assume that's the output drive bearing)?

Also if the bearing noise takes a second to go away when you have the clutch pushed in there's no possible way it can be the throwout bearing

Pop your hood and with foot on brake shift from neutral to first and have someone see if your engine is moving. When mounts are shot they have this symptom. You may want a buddy with you looking for the sound while you replicate over and over again.

@@jonacr its more of an internal clunk sound. i can feel the clunk in the floor of car and through the clutch pedal, and its only in 1st. another symptom is, after being in 5th, stopping at a red light, putting in first, it wont go all the way in if I press the brake pedal too much. lifting the foot off the brake, 1st engages smoothly in. if I dont do that and try to drive off it will grind or pop into 1st. synchros ? input shaft ? bearings ? i think its all together, car has 770k km with original engine and I suspect gearbox is too.

How do Iknow If my issue is throw out bearing or input shaft? Car makes noise when driving in gear and sound goes away when I push in clutch

Well, how much longer can you keep driving it before you're stranded on the road? I have this issue, (became more apparent after new clutch/flywheel) but there's no driving / shifting issues what so ever. It's just the noise. Ordered a new transmission, but won't arrive for another month. Hoping this can hold out that long. Will there be apparent issues with shifting/driving to warn you before the transmission is completely toast?

center differential is below the engine. this looks like the transfer case.

Would help to known what brand name rebuild kits are good and or bad and where to get performance upgrades or just stock upgraded parts like the cdf drum sleeve that moves. Need to source one that has been updated .
