The rubber should go in first before the thermostat so it seals and stops the flow in till it warms up and opens and it won’t rattle 👍

Love a pinto! Great simple old skool engine in an Escort and easy to build or tune. I had my cam cover powder coated a gunmetal grey and painted my block metallic blue. Wasn't expensive and won't scratch like spraypaint will. You can get some nice metallic finishes in powder coat that would look good with a black block. My 205 pinto is standard with a set of twin 45 webers and made 120bhp on the dyno, not too bad for a standard ish pinto

We have the same tensioner set up on ours, but I know some have a spring, not sure if we did the right thing or not, but we added a spring to get the tension 👍 Great vid, looks bang on 💪

If the seal has a slit on the inner side all the way round it goes over the thermostat ,basically the thermostat sits in the slit so it’s 50/50 either side then pushes in to housing as one unit and then your clip , every days a school day 😆

It was a trough toss up between zetec or pinto but as you've said it's personal preference and I like a retro engine in a retro car! Nothing against the modern engines and I probably will do a modern engine in a old car one day but not for this escort 👌🏻
