I remember back in 2019 I had a 2000 crusty and rusty a$$ white ranger with a bowling ball size hole going through the floor and rockers on their last leg and had to replace the water pump. I didn’t have as much money at the time to afford Milwaukee impact and had to rely on hand tools. I ripped the whole damn radiator out, still was a pain to replace with everything rusted on or bolts that wouldn’t budge. It took me like 8 hours to replace that water pump and being 12 coors banquet beers deep in the hot sun with a real rare but bad attitude didn’t help either. Eventually I got it done with sheer determination and 2 cans of pb blaster but it was a pain working with rusty crap. I eventually got rid of the truck when the second transmission blew up. Donated it to the fire department and they destroyed it for training purposes. They chopped the roof, crushed the fenders and took the jaws of life and pushed the dashboard and firewall forward exposing even more hidden rot. I don’t miss that pile, but the motor known for blowing head gaskets didn’t blow a head gasket. Basically that sacked out 3.0 outlasted the rest of the truck. She’s long gone and ancient history!

I have a 2004 ranger 3L and I can't get the fan out. I have the fan special tool but I have only 5mm gap behind the pulley. Ideas? The nut in front of the water pulley is 7/8in aka 22mm NOT 36mm. [ I removed the 4 bolts on the pulley but I can't pull the clutch/fan off ]

My 97 ranger 3.0 is losing coolant, no leaks on the ground. Seems to be getting worse. I just replaced timing cover chain and water pump and now I'm getting coolant in my oil. My temp gauge stays at operating temp and when I have high rpms it goes lower than operating temp so it might need a thermostat. Not sure how coolant is getting in the oil though, could it be from not properly putting teflon tape on the bolts in water pump/timing cover? I don't think its a head gasket because I don't have exhaust bubbles coming out of radiator or overflow tank. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there anyway if the water pump is leaking for it to shoot up above? Cause I have a antifreeze leak somewhere below the the two hoses left of the motor but I can't pinpoint it myself. Also the belt squeaks bad
@NoNonsenseKnowHow4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I suppose you could be getting on the pulley and shooting up
@NoNonsenseKnowHow4 жыл бұрын
And would make sense that your belt is squealing
@curtthechameleon3 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed. Mine did the EXACT thing yours is doing. Was water pump. I had coolant spraying up to alternator and pooling under it. The water pump seals get bad and end up spraying out of the weep holes.

@@curtthechameleon one mechanic today said it's a 4 to 5 hour job and another said it could be the bolts ringed off inside timing housing causing it to leak. Only thing I can't get off is the fan right now

I took mine to a mechanic because it’s running really cold and they told me it was a water pump.
@NoNonsenseKnowHow4 жыл бұрын
Not likely. Unless it's just leaking from the water pump and causing your heater core water level to get low when the system level drops. No antifreeze in the heater core equals no heat
@ronnybeech2924 жыл бұрын
It could potentially just be the thermostat
@mentallyderanged9169 Жыл бұрын
I bet it has a reverse pop thermostat or safety thermostat what ever you want to call it. Maybe no thermostat at all a normal thermostat when fails stays closed and makes engine over heat. A safety stat when fails get stuck open so doesn’t over heat and damage or blow engine.

@@Kmascak1 to get the fan off I held the pulley in place with a crescent wrench. Just back yard improvising. Good luck getting to the timing chain seal cause if your doing the water pump seal you should do that too.

3:35 for the love of god, what else besides these 3 long bolts are holding this bracket on?!
@nutball75373 ай бұрын
If you haven't got an answer for this yet, on my 2001 Ranger 3.0, there are 2 additional bracket bolts kind of behind and below the AC compressor facing the driver's side wheel. Both of these bolts are studded bolts that allow for an additional nut to hold on brackets for something else (you'll probably have to remove the nuts and small brackets first before removing the AC compressor bracket bolts). You can kind of get to the bolts from above but it's a real pain in the you-know-what. Alternatively, the simplest way is to come in from the wheel well (best to remove the wheel and the wheel well splash guard). With ratchet extensions, this allows for much better access to these 2 bolts.
