You can get the bottom filter out as well, i pulled the pto shaft on mine. Its been a few years since i did mine, but i know you can do it!
@Bytesmiths4 жыл бұрын
The bottom one is actually the pump suction filter. The one he pulled was the hydraulic return filter. The pump suction filter is the one that is more likely to cause trouble with low flow. You do need to pull the PTO shaft in order to get the suction filter out. I also had to bend the mounting bracket to get it out, and then bend it back after putting it back in. There suction pump feed just sits loosely in a hole in the case. It showed signs of some sealant on it - possibly wax. I used silicon caulk on mine when I put it back in. I helps to take the left side plate off to give you more working room.

@@Bytesmiths I had to do the same, great tip, I also had to pull out the PTO lever from the side.

Halfords do a great oil filter removal tool that looks like a bearing puller but tightens as you loosen the filter without damaging it. Nice job. Making me long for one now though I’m a lifelong Zetor fan 😊

The old Ford Dexta's main hydraulic filter was under the backend in a round sump held on by a few small studs.

Hi Andy I see the old girl has a pto have you thought about fitting an old oil pump off an old hedge trimmer to power the log splitter ?? Would increase the speed and the splitting pressure??

Hi buddy. Where did you get your replacement backer and O ring for the piston? The Agriline parts I bought have a backer in which is 1mm to big on the OD and 1mm too big on the ID for a three inch piston. Yours looked like it fitted a treat,

What you are calling the suction filter is the small "exhaust" filter from the top cover, the pump suction filter is the big one on the bottom. The Ford service manual has a good hydraulic diagram in it. Otherwise this is a great video of the assembly...

To get the actual suction filter and tube out, unblot the rear PTO shaft, and it will pull out the back, then pull out the PTO engauge lever, and the tube will come out easily.

@frostythesnowdragon31704 жыл бұрын
what’s that lever on the left side of the tractor for ?
@Bytesmiths4 жыл бұрын
PTO. Be CAREFUL when removing the PTO handle if you must! There is a ball bearing and spring that gives it detents. If you remove the arm with the PTO shaft out, the shifting fork will slide in too far, and the little ball will pop out! If it gets far forward, the only way you can get it out is with a suction line.
@paullee40334 жыл бұрын
That first filter is the back pressure filter pul the pto shaft out take the pinion bolt out that holds the suction filter and bend the tab forward and you can wangle the suction filter out you should have also changed the unload o ring one in the kit with white spot and changed th dowel on the positio n control cam

FORD 3000 tractors were built to last a lifetime. u only need to give them proper service and a fresh coat of paint and the machine looks new. i have one and im so used to it that i never think i will get fond of any other make of tractor. i personally do the maintainance service and i pay attention to any parts that require replacement. The secret with Ford tractors is that if you use original parts they serve you a lifetime with proper care.

You could have used some water pipe fittings for that oil return instead of drilling a hole in the cap. The threads are the same. But you made an elegant fitting anyway.
